Hey so I was thinking that the majority of my CV is based on office/retail work with very little f&b except the crp at disney so I applied to Mcdonalds for a part-time job ages ago and got turned down (gutted!) lol now they have emailed me and asked me to go for an interview. Im not so sure I want to take on a second job now as I only applied originally cos I thought it would look good on my cv when applying to disney. Waht do you guys think?is it worth going for it even though I have already done the phone interview and im not convinced I will get through to the f2f but if I did would the couple of weeks experience working at Mickey D's make any difference? The working 2 jobs thing doesnt bother me - I've done it before working 7 days a week plus evenings its just do I really want to work at McD's
id give it a whirl, if you hate it you can always quit!!! ;D always something extra to have on your CV anyway and i know a lot of people who have worked at McD's and loved it, they said it was the best banter ever (i assume they mean the banter between the staff!!)
I worked there for a year i enjoyedbit a bit boating but my staff were really nice and it defo got me the Disney job as the American recruiters know the brand in my intrviewbi know three people who got the job without being waitlisted and they all worked at mcdonald
Well coincidentally I've applied for about four different jobs with McDonalds near me, although I haven't heard anything back yet. I figured it's good F&B experience (since I have none), plus I've been looking for other jobs for about two months now and with only one interview I can't be picky! I'd say go for it, you can always quit if something better turns up or you don't enjoy it!
I have an interview with Maccy D's on the 11th. ;D I was kind of hoping it would be a bit earlier than that so if I get the job I can update my CV before they decide the F2Fs. Do you think the McD's would make much of a difference at this stage, or would it be more likely to impress the Disney recruiters than yummy?
no idea but it cant hurt and at least if you dont get thru this time u have the mickeyD experience for the next application - wel thats what im thinking anyways
I am now officially a McDonald's full time Crew Member! Got an email inviting me to an earlier interview so went this afternoon and got offered the job. Don't know if it would make a difference to my Disney application at this stage but as mentioned it can at least help for next time! Staff seemed really nice actually so it sounds like the banter's going to be good at least ;D Have you had your interview yet Ellie? xx
i worked at Mcds from 16-23 was a Manager at 20 and can honestly say i loved every minute of it - its the best banter and social life you can wish for plus the staff concessions were ace, places like topman/hmv/amazon (not sure if still them now) - i tried to get a part time job recently with them, but i think being an ex manager put them off... oh well... i'm thinking of going back to my old store, part time, next year if i dont get on the cruise enjoy it
yay got a job at Mickey'D's have ot say it was easiest interview I have ever had she was really nice. I dont haveto do the on job evaluation but some people who are also new starters do so once they have done that we are having a welcome meeting and looking at shit and stuff
Congrats! When do you start? I have to go for a day induction thing which they are yet to email me about, and then I get my shifts after that! Hopefully it's soon cos I could do with some dosh lol
not sure when i start as she said i dont have to do the induction stuff as such just the on job trainng when i start my shifts but the other new people they are hiring do. i will go to the welcome meeting tho after they have done their training i think she said it would prob be mid next week then we would be rota'd in after that
I know this is an ancient topic, but I've been working at McDonald's for almost a year now. So did either of you have any luck?
I worked at mcdonalds, when i applied the first time, and the guy, Roger at the time who did the interviews openly said it helped, because McDonalds is an american company and like to do similar stuff to disney, like team work and have goals and motivations and stuff hope this helps?
i just quit - 6 months was enough for me out of the group they hired that i was part of i stayed the longest I didnt mind the job to be honest and the people were fab but the upper management - the ones who owned the frachise and a bunch of other ones in the area were horrible im concentrating on passing my driving test at the mo - but i might go back who knows
Cheers ParkyPants my hospitality teacher at college (as I do Travel & Tourism) said that McDonald's would help me in future careers. But just got my fingers crossed now my store always have little competitions, like who can sell the most large meals and that. Pinkspider.. I can't really blame you to be honest, I work in the busiest store in my area. The customers think its instant service & treat you like an idiot, I'm at McDonalds to make money not to stay there the rest of my life. Little rant over As for the franchise owners, mine aren't the best either. Whenever they come in they just look down on you and make you feel like an idiot infront of everyone.
my personal fave from the ower was when i was on lobby sending me out in the rain and high winds to clean the window sills - of course the rain and wind blew mud and leavers straight back onto them as it happens to be nedxt to a nature trail lol- such a good use of my time i think - not!!! then she complained that the tables werent clear i was like hello u set me out in the dam rai for an hour what u expect? arghhhh i have to admit the customers were the worse on drive thru than anywhere else i have ever worked so happy i no longer have to hear yeah gimme like 5 pound burgers annna coke an a flurry an one of those quid chicken fings ya kow? but the rest of the crew were great such a laugh and being on front was cool very busy shifts used to fly by
Is working at MickeyD's really worth it? At the moment I'm trying to find my first job (should have done it sooner but I've been focusing too much on school) so I'm trying to find good places that will accept first timers. It's so hard to find one! They all want experience. And I really want at least one job for only a little while so I can at least out something down on my resume. I don't really want to work fast food but I feel like I'm running out of choices. But I don't want to get stuck making fries or cleaning the bathrooms! Gross!
Lmao! I'm so lucky really, my McDee's is in a mall so I don't have a drive thru or toilets but since last June I've had a blood clot so I've had a few months off work so atm I'm finding it really hard to get back into work. But anyway, I suppose it's quite a laugh working for them my managers are all lovely too and they're just like one of you really. CanadianCole - I'd say McDee's is worth it when I was 16.. The last job I wanted to get was fast food but I became extremely desperate for work so I got myself an interview and like everyone else says its generally just a chat, then I got an email the same day to say I've got the job. Also, people say if you can work at McD you can work anywhere. Which I suppose is true you can also get amazing discounts on websites etc! I'm sort of glad I work there. Haha!
