May I ask?

    Hello All,

As the Mum of a very keen applicant I have been reading these forums with great interest. It certainly is a very useful source of information and support for those applying and, of course, those who have suceeded in their quest to work for the "mouse"!!!

I was just wondering what are the ultimate career aspirations of all you youngsters and do you think this has any bearing on the decisions made on your applications or at interview? It has occurred to me that they may be more inclined to look favourably on those who seek a future in hospitality or tourism perhaps?

I don't think it was hugely necessary to post the same question twice, but nevertheless, as we say around here... Hakuna Matata ;)

As for your first question, I'm currently studying my first of four years towards a BSc in Business Information Systems at the National University of Ireland, Cork - University College Cork. At the end, options open to me include Business Consultancy, Information Systems, Banking, Accountancy, Management, Finance and Marketing among others. I'm also keeping secondary level teaching (Business Studies, Accounting, Economics) on my list of options.

As for whether it would influence their decision, I'd be inclined to say no. I mean, if all 57,000 cast members at Walt Disney World were hospitality/tourism students the place would be pretty boring. It's along the same lines as why there's even an International Program in the first place. 57,000 American cast members wouldn't make for a Walt Disney World. More a Walt Disney Country! After all, variety is the spice of life. The more diverse the cast member base, the more creative the cast member base is. And if there's one thing Walt Disney World is, it's creative.

So, yeah. I'd say as long as the particular person is enthusiastic, outgoing and friendly, not a whole lot else matters.
