    Hey there!
Has anybody had their interview at the US Embassy in London yet?
If so...does it take a full four hours?
And do you have to dress smart?

You don't have to wear smart clothes. some peopel were in shorts and t shirts last time i was there. Also last year i was at the embassy for about 5 hours, but some people had to wait only 2 or 3 hours.

its asking a lot to dress smart i think! im going by train there and back in a day if i was dressed smartly it would be so uncomfortable!

how about taking stuff with you?
they say dont bring anything electrical with you, but a girl from my course said you can put things in a tray and theyll give it back to you as you leave?
i wouldnt mind but i dont fancy going down to london without a phone on me!

cool! thanks for that, it was helpful....5 hours is such a long time. did you have to wait around a lot or were you actually do something?

waited for my number to be called to hand in my sheets, then waited for my number to be called again for my interview.
So i was probably doing stuff for like less than 5 minutes, and the rest was waiting around doing NOTHING!!

I have a question about the photo. Is there a photo taking service outside the embassy that takes the pictures according to the requirements? how much will the pictures cost? thankss

ok, so all this info helps as ive yet to have my interview, but just to clarify, people have taken i.e there phone with them and thats ok, casue when i spoke to them on the phone there were well serious about not taking any electrial devices and when i asked about my phone as i might need to use it, they told me to keep it in a locker at a train station or somthing!! bloody stupid if you ask me!

i got my visa yesterday. it seems you can take phones you just have to leave them at the front in cabin thing. wish id have known i was gone for 13hours yesterday with no phone and ipod, just my friend meaning we just annoyed each other as we had nothing else to do!

however coming to home to miscalls and messages certainly makes you feel good!

i did have a little panic though, i have a small smudge on my thumb cos its always blisters due to drumming and they were a bit picky on it but eventually ok! i did have a panic for 15mins after giving in my forms thinking id be rejected though so for the few weeks before your interview...... always wear gloves 8)

Sorry to hijack your thread but just wanted to ask a couple of things really quickly.

    1. How much choice do you get when booking your appointment? I'm hoping to have mine on either the 12th/13th of June and would rather have late afternoon so I can get the train down and just have to fly back up.

    2. Roughly how far away is the embassy from Kings Cross?

when i rung up it was basically "these dates are available" and there wernt many, id ring very soon for 12/13 june, not sure about the choice in time i just got given 2pm, which was one of the last of the day so i presume they just work from 9am onwards

also i couldnt say about kings cross, i went to euston. but i was surprised how quick the tube was, took me 10mins to get from euston to marble arch on 2 trains!

So is Euston the closest station to it?

from kings cross it'd take about the same time on the tube. probably about 10-15 minutes but leave ages cos if your late thats it!

Oh and 2.30 is the last appointment time.

    Hey there!
Just wanna let you know that I had my interview yesterday in London and it wasn't too bad...apart from the waiting around...think I was there for 3hours! It gets really busy though, peeps were sitting on the floor, standing, etc. Whoever has theirs to come yet make sure you take a book or something, it really helps the time pass!
In total I think I spent like 5mins processing the forms!

ok...have another quick query for anyone who has already had theor visa interview...do they keep the ds-2019 form and then return it to you with the passport?because mine wasnt returned to me on the day so im assuming that theyre going to send it to me along with my passport...?
