I've got my interview on the 28th feb and I'm really exited and nervous at the same time. Does anyone know how many applicants there are for how many jobs? Any advice on how to stand out? ???
im not sure the exact ratio...it used to be worse than it is now. the first time i interviewed it was much less jobs to applicants(i got it...but turned it down...wot a tube!) the second time i'm pretty sure there were much more jobs. it obviously just depends on whats appening at the time! my main tip is to be yourself. they're looking for friendly, easy to get on with people. you have to be outgoing ... but im guessing you are seen s you want a job there! make sure you show your personality and smile a lot! one point they made to me was that i'm really easy to understand as i dont have any strong accent...maybe that helped!?! they had probably had a good few people before me with strong accents, he said that i was probably the easiest to understand out of everyone he'd met with, which plays a big part in a place where lots of people from all over the world go. they'll wanna learn about your country , but they can only do that if they can understand you, so that probably has a strong reflection of you. wishing you the best of luck with everything...keep me posted! :-* x x
hi, id just reinforce what lindsey said...im sure when i had my fone interview jason expected a realy srong scouse accent and they way "scousers" are often depicted isnt very good anyay...but id say definetley make sure ur coherent and speak slowly!
ooh, I had an american tell me I was easy to understand the other day! that's a good sign....she couldn't understand my brother cos he's got an essex boy accent and says a lot of colloquial things, and doesn't pronounce most letters : so that makes me feel better! Ellen xxx
yeah thats a very good sign ellen! yeah i was trying to speak slowly as although i dont have an accent i speak fast as do many up here! but im working on it...i try to never speak fast so ive mastered it by june!lol! ive told the folks at work to slap me if i speed up! xx
Sup! From what Michelle and Sara were saying about the last round, the ratio of interviewees to places was between 2:1 and 4:3- so you've got a 50%-75% chance of getting it! Dan
wow dan thats fast maths....he loves it! but like there seems to be thousannnnnnnnnds more applicanst this time...ok thats a hyperbol but i do tend to exagerate! but there are a worrying amount of applicants popping up on here!!! all for one!
cheers guys, my accents not too strong so thats a bonus! Does seem to be a lot of people on here with interviews on the 28th Feb! :
I know what you mean! I was on here loads round the time of the phone interviews and after a few weeks away i've come back to the forums and hardly know anyone :'( lol x luckily everyone is so friendy
p.s. i think they split the interviews last time between north and south which i don't think is the case this time so there are probably just the same amount of people just we're all in one place ;D
Yeah, me and sara spent time trying to work out the percentage of applicants to jobs!!! Think we worked out that the odds were pretty good once you got to the face to face!! There does seem to be loads of you this time round!!! Prob doesnt mean theres more applicants - just that more of you found the boards!!! There was only a few of us back in november!!! Michelle xx
I have just applied but I am really worried i won't get it, I have done some bar work before. Can you reapply straight away if you don't get through
From all I've read, the amount of applicants seems to be higher this time just because in previous runs - the interviews have been split & everyone is in London this time
Yeah!! just got the directions and letter through from Yummy for the interview day! Another exciting Disney moment!
yeah that's very true in the november interviews there were belfast, glasgow, cardiff and london interviews. I was at the london interview and there was around 40 of us there, however a lot of people from that interview do seem to have got through, i'm flying with around 10 of them on 21st june, so i dont know percentage wise! i think jason/yummy mite b able 2 indicate it 2 u, but duno if they r allowed 2!? xxx
Sara - I remember sitting with dan waiting for you to come out of your interview and us trying to work out how many people were there!! I think we figured that there were 8 interviewees every hour between 11.15 and 6.15 so thats 8 people times 7 hours which is about 56 people. Then we decide they must beak for lunch so that meant there was prob around 45-50 people!! Then we tried to guess how many were at the other few interviews but we didnt have a clue!! I think weve found out since that there was less than in london so there was about 100-150 applicants in total for about 50 jobs - approx 25 in march and 25 in June. Therefore we came up with the 5oish% chance of getting a job!! Okay - i just went into super huge detail there that probably made no sense at all so Ill just apologise for that but seeing as Ive just typed it all out then I might as well post it!! Michelle xx
no, don't worry you made sense! 50% chance is not too bad i guesss. Still very nervous though! Thanks Lianne xxx
