    Hey everyone,
I guess I'd better watch out not to become the queen of random, but I was just wondering. Is there like a dirty washing basket already there or what do most people buy? I really couldn't be bothered to use the vacation dirty washing bag all year long.
Again, thanks for putting up with my blurted out thoughts and for filling little empty spaces in my head.

Umm really depends on the person
i bought one of those little foldable washing basket things, a lot of people buy the big plastic ones too as they are easier to carry to the laundry room

    but its upto you really

a few apartments i went in clothes were all over the floor, haaha

I'm going to take a Disney one. You can get little collapsable ones for cheap prices. I thought I'd have to make it a bit more fun; this is going to be the first time I do my own washing. God help me!

the good thing about the driers is that you dont have to iron :)

I took one of those cirle ones that pops up with me when i went out - by the end of the year i had accumulated 2 more laundry baskets from throw outs - i had one for light clothes and one for dark for washing and then one for costumes

I don't know if I trust myself to wash the costume, is there a place at Epcot that does it for you? I tried my first wash the other day and did a 'grey and beige' wash, it failed, badly. I had to say goodbye to some nice clothes haha!

In Epcot there is costuming for all the different outfits u wear there. Its a massive room with rails upon rails of costumes. with your disney ID you can check out 5 x top, 5 x skirt/trousers 5 x aprons 1 x chippy hat, 1 x cumberband (belt for girls) 1 x grey coat and 1 x poncho and then if you get into service 1 x server pouch so enough for a week. they basically scan ya id and every costume has a barcode on it which they scan out to u. If you want to keep those clothes the whole year and wash them yourself you can but if you dont fancy washing them you can take them back to costuming - theres a computer bank with scanners at the back where you scan the barcode off your costumes back into the system and put them in the dirty bins, once you have scanned a piece of costume back in you can then take out another one. Costuming isnt open all the time though and if you go back out of hours they have drop points where you can dump ya costumes.

the sizing of the costumes is odd. e.g. normally in uk sizes you go down a size in american ones so if you are a size 12 uk you become a size 10 in america except in disney costuming where you actually go up 1 or 2 sizes (sometimes more!!!) and even if you pick up 2 size 12 top they arent necessarily going to be the same size so generally people find costumes that fit them and hang on to them. also there are slight differences in the colours of the costumes - the newer ones are a darker colour.

Costuming is also where you order replacement name tags if you lose yours.

All iterms of costume exlcuding the name tag have to be returned to disney at the end of the contract. on your lasst day you have to turn in everything and if you lose something then you get ccharged. you have to get a piece of paper from costuming that says you have returned or paid for everything before they release your final cheque!!! thats the money for your last week of work and the money disney pay you back for flying out there - you also have to turn in your disney id and housing id at the same time.

Word of advice - do not lose the grey coat cos they cost a couple of hundred dollars!!!!! so thats something you do not want to lose or have someone else borrow and forget to give back to you

pinkspider hit the nail on the head.

Although you're only allowed 3 aprons now, not 5. And you're also allowed 3 under-shirt polo top things. They help a lot when it's too cold for short sleeves, but just a tiny bit too hot for the coat, or you're bussing tables/in chippie etc and the coat sleeves just get in the way!

A piece of advice when it comes to costuming. If you're not sure about the size of the ones you start off with, don't hesitate to give that back and check out another size. Since getting here I've had both size 14 and 12 skirts, a size 14, 12 and 10 cumber-band, size 12 and 10 tops... and I want to try an 8.

I hope to god they order some more cumber-bands some time soon though, there's barely any in atm!

if you want your final cheque you have to had in ya id's - i heard of some people tlaking their way out of it. the other choice is to 'lose' your id and then pay for new ones i think housing is like $10 and company id is $50 but cant really remember

ad yes you get to keep your name tag - ia ctually acquired several name tags :D

Thanks for all the info on costuming, its really interesting!

I had one of the collapsable laundry bins at uni and they're fine if you haven't got far to go to the washing machine, but if you do they're a pain! I guess it depends where you end up living as (I think!) some of the apartments have washers in them and others don't...

I can only agree, the information is absolutely brilliant. It will definitely
Need to be a laundry whatever with a lid, I don't fancy showing my dirty laundry to everyone, but I'm sure that can be arranged.
As fr the costume, does anyone have closer information about the German costumes? It's not absolutely necessary, but f you happen to know, please share!

You could always do what I did at university, use your suitcase! Its there so you might as well use it and you can just wheel it around instead of dragging a laundry bin about.

You can definitely get a lot of good things are throw outs...when other people are finishing their contracts they have a 'throw out' and give away all of their things that they aren't bringing home with them...this is a great place to get free laundry bins, hangers, clothes if you want, appliances (blenders etc), even TVs sometimes and video games! Always go to throw outs!!! Plus it's respectful and important :)

As for keeping your Disney ID and housing ID...I handed in my housing ID (because it was ugly haha) and I kept my Disney ID as I said I gave it to my manager at work. I am a momento freak as well..I like to keep everything! Apparently someone who went back for a second contract hadn't handed in her Disney ID and wasn't issued a new one until she gave it up!

appartments in the commons have washers and driers in them whch is great :) i believe all the other appartment complexes have laundry rooms where you have to take your washing to do that charge you a few dollars a use

i love the red german costume reminds me of mini mouses dress hehe - german costumes for girls are actually fairly nice compared to some of the others - the boys have to wear lederhose :D but pretty much all male costumes include some variety of short pants

If you're in Commons, get costumes out that fit and just keep them, because you never know what sizes will be available if you hand them back in lol. I say in Commons because you have your washers/dryers. Washing them's a piece of cake, the girls UK costume everything can go in together and doesn't run, but boys, don't put your trousers in with your shirts! I've seen so many of the boys with green shirts for work haha.

The German costume for girls is a white shirt (collarless, buttons up to the top, little puff sleeves), white underskirt, then red or black (dep on F&B or Merch) overdress. F&B also wear a white apron. The girls costume is actuallly quite cute. The boy's wear lederhosen. Merch is more flattering, they wear white shirts with grey trousers and braces (I think, might be full on lederhosen type braces with the bit across the middle, but I can't remember), F&B wear green short lederhosen and a little Robin Hood style hat, complete with feather haha.

Laundry basketwise, I used the plastic case I bought my duvet in, it was square clear plastic, so I just left the cardboard insert in to hide my undies and it worked fine ;D.
