hi everyone..... does anyone know about the thing with the badges if you know a language. i think you get a sign on your name badge saying that you can speak a foreign language, but how does it work?? Do you have to do a test before you get them?? I can't do any other spoken language, but know American Sign and British Sign Language. What does everyone else know? Sarah xx
I think what you do is you call somewhere and they ask you a few simple questions in that language. That's what I've been told, anyway. All I know fluently are English and Norwegian, but I'm planning to brush up on my french and maybe learn some spanish and italian when I'm over there...
Well, I learned several languages at school and uni, but modern languages only English, French and Spanish( apart from German ;D) I learned them for many years, but I might have to practise speaking French and Spanish again...it´s been a while. Is it something the CP people get or also the ones in the IP? ???
You can probably get it, but unfortunately it can take a while... I had to wait like 11 months or something for my Norwegian flag, which is kinda ridiculous, even after bugging them for it over and over. But try, by all means... you get to keep it ;D
I'm only there for three months, so its unlikely that i'll get it. oh well, thought that they would want to give them out to CM's who could speak foreign languages as they have guests visiting from all over the world Sarah ;D
Ask as soon as you get there...or better yet...do you have a contact there now? There is a phone number you call and they ask you a few questions and then you get the flag on your nametag. You can have up to 5 I think. If you are from a country that has another native language (ie. Norway, Mexico, France...), you now get the flag on your nametag automatically. Shan
i would love to learn spanish when im out there - so any volunteer teachers?? i no a bit of greek but i dont spose that will come in very handy ovr there will it? i no the basics in french as well, ;D
i know basic french and german as i ldid them for around 5 years at school, but a bit rusty now, i still understand things when people talk... its kinda useful LOL xxx
hey, that would be cool, to have a norwegian flag on my name tag... do we get an american flag as well??? do you think this would be enough to get a german flag?? Ich komme aus Norwegen Wie geht es dir? Ich habe in die Schule für fünf Jahre Deutsch hat. Das ist warum mein Deutsch ist so gut ;D Nein, Norwegen ist nicht ein Bundesland in das North Pole!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hey guys, I want a spanish flag but my spanish isn't that amazing... doing it at AS level but that doesn't make me good! hehe. check out the spanish board and you'll see! lol I think that if you speak another language fluently then they would have a badge waiting for you, seeing as we had to put it on our app forms! I am determined to practive my spanish and German, am hoping to live with a mexican and german! ;D Bry
Hey guys, I´ll teach you German and maybe in return learn a little Norwegian (Scandinavian languages sound very nice!) and practise my French and Spanish! It´ll be a lot of fun!
The English language doesn't have any flag... not even the US accent one... Or else everybody in Disney would walk around with a flag, that's just too silly... Other than that, English is the basic requirement for getting hired, that means its no biggie!
But, hey, MyLittlePony, we could wear two Norwegian flags, since we speak New-Norwegian as well..... Yeah, I'd love to, I'm up for it But seriously!??!!? You think the Scandinavian languages sound nice.....
Well, I'de love to teach you You're also very priviliged, since you're german. Norwegian derives from German. German is a western-germanic language, and Norwegian is a Northern-Germanic language
I don't speak New-Norwegian and I'm proud of it!!! Although I can speak Nordlending (like they do in the north) when I'm drunk... Once convinced some Norwegians I was from the north of Norway although I've never been there haha! I think Swedish is pretty, and Icelandic, but Norwegian is harsh and Danish sounds like people have potatoes in their throat...
Seriously it does... its common for the Swedes and Norwegians to joke and say that about the Danes, their way of speaking is horrible. I have serious problems understanding it (Norwegian, Swedish and Danish are almost identical, at least when it comes to the words) and I have close relatives in Denmark!
