Hey folks,Ive been trying to go through this long long process to get a job at Disney, but all I really want is a job in the US.As an atlantic Canadian I naturally want to escape the cold lol.I recently graduated and am basically looking for any type of job where I can legally work and live in the United States for a year or so.Does anyone know how I can do this? In order to get a job you need a visa, but in order to get a visa you ned a job.Sort of a catch 22.Anyways i'm not giving up on Disney, but does anyone know and websites or programs that can get a Canadian like myself a job in the States?

    Thanks

    Hey Brodie,

you can be happy for being a Canadian. There are loads of people, who wanna make a living in the US. I mean, you as a Canadian can be happy, cause it's easier to get a job as a Native Canadian in comparison as non-Canadians. Believe me, there cartain ways. It is known, that teh US Government are that strict in the Visa process like Non Canadians. So take this as a joker.

But to get to my piont is, what makes you special to get a job at Disney long-term? I think it is very important to think about the question. Do you have abilities that take you in a possition an american is not able to do? Acting, Performing, an excellent degree or diploma what pushes you high in the market? You should specialize in something, beeing really really good in, and then apply. Believe me, they take you.

    bye

I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean.I am a very proud Canadian.I am not trying to go take jobs from people who deserve it more then myself.I simply whould like to experince life outside of Canada. You siad "But to get to my piont is, what makes you special to get a job at Disney long-term?"I dont really understand this question,I never said I wanted to work at Disney long term.I am not saying I deserve a job more then any American.I am simply trying to give myself an experince in another country that will help me in figure out what kind of career I want.I am still young and unsure about what I want to do for the rest of my life.

I am german and I finished my Disney year a while ago and now I am back in Florida for a 18 months management training for hospitality. I went into that market because I knew that I wanted to relocate in the future. There are a lot of trainings and summer jobs for internationals over here. They range from 3 months to 18 months periods and go from no pay to actually good money. I surfed the web for a while before I found this job and I had to go to another country for my interview, but it was all worth it. Just do some research and talk to your local employment office, they might have some ideas as well. Being canadian it will definitely be a little easier for you to find a job here. But I totally get what you are saying with the no job, no visa and no visa, no job. I had the same problem before taking on this job, because I wanted to move to Canada and it was just too hard to find something intersting with reasonable pay.
    Good luck!

It is actually a lot harder for a Canadian versus someone from Europe. I don't think they like us down there!!! There are a couple of programs you can do, but they are very limited. I had 3 internship offers and it was just a matter of getting the paperwork to go and I couldn't get it.

Hmm I don't know I guess in the end we are all foreigners to the United States ??? It's a pain in the ass to immigrate anywhere and sometimes it's not even worth it. Even the temporary jobs are just so hard to get. Now that I work here I don't understand why, because the competition is really not that big.
