J1 academic - august 07

hi there, is anyone going, or taken part in the j1 academic program!
im going in august not too sure what to expect!!

Well im part of the J1 academic program but im shceduled for October..

Now, if this is your first disney program ever.. you can expect SOOO MANY INCREDIBLE THINGS!!! LAST YEAR I WAS PART OF THE H2B program and the whole thing really surpassed my expectations!! I have a friend who took this same program last year.. she loved it, she told me teachers are amazing, campus is great and all seminars are really cool..

I definetely am going back this year!! hahaha im counting every hour, minute and second till that moment hahaha!!
Last year i worked QSR on Frontierland at MK which i loved!! it's hard work and looong hours (and i ended up hating those daaamn turkey legs haha) but overall.. i loved the whole thing!!! This time around i'll be working at a resort.. i don't know yet which one..

Meh... Jason (Yummy Jobs) is trying to get the University of North Carolina to set up a program for me since Central Michigan University wouldn't allow me to be part of the program.

If I'm going... which I highly doubt... I'll be going from August 19th till January 11th.

im not sure if graduates go on it! dont think so tho!!
the j1 that im going on is sponsored by an american uni n we go to uni one day a week while out there.

pkatakia... The J1-Academic is not the same as the graduate program.

CMU wouldn't let me in because of the fact I'm studying to become an English Teacher, they don't accept people who are doing Teacher Training courses because CMU doesn't teach Teacher Training courses at all.
They told me this after several months of emailing back and forth.. getting my hopes up and all... so I'm not getting my hopes up this time.
I tried to convince them to let me go anyway (as did Jason), my main goal (academic-wise) is to improve my English since English is not my first language... So I told them I didn't mind taking any other random first year courses (be it Economics or whatever else they have to offer) but they still said no. I don't agree with it though, I already know how to teach.. blah.

 

can't believe they wouldnt take you even though you said you would do any course!!!
fingers crossed that it works out with North Carolina!!

Have you booked your flight yet? You'll be going from glasgow or somewhere in scotland won't you?

I've booked with virgin and my 2 other mate have 2..Flying from Manchester, August 19th..

Still need to pay my exams first like! Have you been before? I went on the College Program last summer and it was awesome!

 

yeah flyin from glasgow! theres 18 of us going from my uni, think we're all pretty much on the same flight!!!
ive been to disney loads of times b4 but never on one of their programmes!!
cant believe this will b ur second time sooooo lucky!!!

Can't believe there's so many going from your uni..There's guna be quite alot of English people though by the sounds of it! I know about 6 or 7 going..

Yeah, it really is as good as everyone says..I think its better really..You just can't even describe how good it is to be honest!

What time do you get into orlando at? Who you flyin with?

 

yeah well our course has a one year compulsary placement, and yummy jobs approached and suggested disney, so everyones going for it lol!!

think the flight gets in at about half 1 or something!! flying with globespan to sanford because it was sooooooooooo much cheaper, and gettin the shuttle bus that they have to drop us off at international to meet the disney team!!

what bout u? when do you arrive??

im actually really excited now!!! just need to decide what to bring lol!

How much was your flight? Itll be expensive for the shuttle tho won't it?

We arrive at 2:30 i think it is..But apparently virgin alway land sooner than what its expected to! Thought i'd fly with virgin anyway, it was fairly cheap and was worth the money anyway!
