Is it strange not to wear Bikinis at pool side?

I wonder if it is strange for ppl' not wearing Bikiks at pool side.
Very few Hong Kongers have Bikinis. I don't have 1. Is it strange for pp't to wear bathing suit?

 

Don't worry, you can buy a bikini when you get there.

Yeach. YOu are right. I wanna wear my bathing costume. Hong Kongers are a bit conservative and traditional compared with westerners. Of course. Hong kOngers are LESS conservative compared with ppl' in Mainland China.

6 US dollars. um.. Maybe I will buy 1 in Florida if I feel like wearing it.

 

wear whatever you feel most comfortable in, I am sure there will be others not in bikinis and nobody will hold it against you. After all everyone is there to learn more about each others cultures so if being more conservative is part of your culture then there is nothing to worry about. Don't worry everyone will accept you for who you are not what you wear!

 

Thanks so much for telling me that. Yeach. You are right. I SHOULD wear whatever I feel most comfortable in. At 1st, I was worried that I would NOt be accepted by others as I might look Weird NOT in bikini. you are right. Ppl' will accept me for who i'm not what I wear. it is TOO shallow for me to think others may judge sb by what I wear. How silly I was.

You could always try a tankini? Its a two piece, but it covers everywhere, I wear them when I'm feeling a little subconcious! Although at around $6 I might have to uinvest in a new bikini! But if you feel more comfortable in a costume then thats what you should wear, i don't think anyone there will judge on what ever you wear, unless that is, if you choose to go nudey! lol, something I think you probably get arrested for in disney! No offence to any nudists we have out there!


Julia - How come you only went to the pool twice? Are there better places to go? Cos I can imagine myself at the pool a lot when I'm not working?

You can definitely wear one piece suits...lots of people do...there are no rules!

 

I never had time! I went to the beaches and Mickey's retreat instead
( much nicer ). The pool was usually too crowded and most of the people just sort of presenting themselves there. You don't really get to relax there...I think my regular day was waking up with a hangover, going to work, having a pizza when returning home, trhowin' a pre party, going to a party, going to bed, waking up with a hangover...there was not much time for the pool haha

I read the post entitled Bikinis. It seems to me that EVERY girl will wear Bikini. I dont' wanna be STARED by others just because I wear 1-piece.

 

Yes. I agree that people are kinda of presenting [ or showing off]. I dont' think I will get to relax in that enviornment.

Don't worry, people are presenting themselves, but no one will stare at you or something. If you feel uncomfy go with a few friends or hit the beach like I always did.
And about the bikini thing, well it's sort of a trend, but as already mentioned many people wear tankinis, too ( which are sort of an in between for bathing suits and bikinis ) and the people on here are just few of those who will all go to Florida. I'm sure not everyone down there will be into bikinis.

Girls reply to the post entitled Bikini say that they all will wear bikini at pool side of the hostel of FLorida. After reading it, I started thinking about if I will be kinda of discriminated by others as I wear a 1-piece.
After hearing what you said, my fears alleviated.

Asians are slightly more conservative than westerners. I guess not many Asians wear bikini at beach or poolside. That's the cultural difference.That's the thing which I worry about. I wonder if you found any Cultural gap with others? Could you plz kindly share your experience with me?

melissa there are stores all over where u can buy tankinis,bikins or obne piece bathing suit

even in souvenir shops....were right next to shops were we live!   ;D ;Dso it will come in handy..

theres a cool shop  "ron jon surf shop" they do some great selection of swimwear but there kinda expensive but lovely. ;D
