Hi everyone I'm new to this so i don't know alot about the two programs ???

I have just graduated from University and would love to come and work at WDW. However i would like to work there for 6 months and not a year. I noticed that the summer work experience was shorter than the year long contract for the cultural representative, however that you still need to be involed in a college program. Is there any leeway on either of the programs so i would be able to do 6 months and not 12.

also has anyone ever gone with a friend on these programs

Well I know for the summer work, you definitely need to be returning to a college program in the fall. And the CRP is a year long, but you can end your contract early. Although if you do that there is a bunch of costs they won't reimburse you for and you will have to leave the country within 24 hrs because of visa regulations. Hope that helps!

Well i'm heading down in November, and just found out about it, so I haven't had much to pay for yet, but there's a police check, visa fees, application fees, insurance, housing stuff to pay for, transportation down there etc. I know if you stick it out, they reimburse your flight down there because they want you to keep the bill for it, and maybe some other stuff. And I have no idea how much flights back are.. depends on where you going.

also are there any consiquences for quiting early like with the visa, cos i know you have to be out of the country in 24 hours but does it go against you if you ever need to apply for a visa there again

if you quit and go home it wont have any effect on the visa.
before you go your going to have to pay about £55 for your CBC (police check) about £100-odd for your visa (and the time & cost of going to London to get it) about $100 for your program fee (admin fee basically) your going to have to purchase at least 4 months medical insurance cover and then your flight over to orlando and you will need to have some spending money with you when you go over - usually a few hundred pounds at least....

If you really really really dont want to go for 12 months i dont think theres much point in applying for the CRP to be totally honest - theres a lot of thing to pay for to start with and also your going to be taking a place away from someone who would kill to spend a year there! you should try one of the shorter programs instead

in all honesty after you get over there youl soon find that 6 months just isnt long enough anyway and your probably going to want to stay for the full year!! why are you only wanting to go for 6 months?? its a chance to spend a full year in florida, you should be trying to take full advantage of that, not trying to find ways to cut the time down!!

I did it with a degree in sociology, but as i said, they've changed it a bit it might be worth your while emailing yummy jobs (if you're from the UK or canda) and asking them.
You probably wouldn't live in the same accomodation as the crp, they mostly live in commons or sometimes patterson, but you'd still be in disney accomodation living with other people doing the college programs.

tbh you wont have time to miss your family - seriously the first weeks are packed and then when you start work your workng and hitting the parks or going out

some people did get homesick when i was there but it passed - i think the worse time for a lot of people was xmas but i just had all ym new friends round and cooked xmas dinner (chicken cos i cant cook turkey lol)

also your mum can come visit you - after you've been there a while you can get her a discount hotel and stuff

also phone cards are pretty cheap $10 and talk for 5 hours, or use the computers to keep in touch as well or if you have a laptop bring it along too

6 months is such a short time - even a year is when your out there it goes so quickly

yeah i agree, the only time i ever felt a little homesick was when i woke up the morning after i arrived, i was on my own in my apartment as my room mate was out at work and i just looked around and it kinda hit me where i was..... and il admit i did burst into tears!!! But after i sorted myself out i was fine and honestly didnt look back, the first 3 - 4 weeks are like a total blur, there is sooooo much going on and so much to do that your feet wont touch the ground! and after youve been there for a month/ 6 weeks your going to have settled in anyway. Youl be fine!!! everyone else is in the same boat so everyone knows how bizzare it can feel when you first arrive but you will find that you bond really quickly with everyone out there - its like a second family!!!! :)
