At the Toronto interviews, Julie said that it is possible but unlikely. She said there are so many people applying each year to go that they feel it wouldn't be fair to let someone go twice when lots don't get to go once.
Hi there, Ditto on what Lori said about what Julie said at the Toronto interview. Alot of people would love to re-apply again lol But you could still apply for the Disney Cruise or other Disney positions. Although, you could get like a management job at Disney World after the program but that is something totally different. There's also Disney College too. You might want to look at http://corporate.disney.go.com/careers/index.html or here as well (go to this one, this has alot of info) http://www.disney.go.com/DisneyCareers/wdwcareers/international/ Gary
I enquired about corporate careers. They wont take me til I have relevant qualifications. They dont sponsor people from the UK for positions that could be easily filled by ppl in the US. I wanna b an accountant for disney once I get my ACCA ;D x
Is it possible for a british person to ever get a job at disney after the IP at all? I'll have a degree but i didnt think it was possible under current US law unless u have something an american doesnt if that makes sense. Its probably different for canada though... being part of same region etc... xxx
Since degree's are pretty standard, u need a higher qualification than that to be hired, because, as you said, you need something which regular americans dont have. So like proffessional qualifications or an MBA would suffice to get hired by Disney in the US. These qualifications wouldnt be relevant to work in one of the parks tho . So my reply about saying they will hire you is to do with corporate disney careers x
Thanks Nat Thats great news! Im planning to do an MBA hopefully in 2007 after ive done the GMAT cos my current degree is ma hons in business. I did a few mba classes on my exchange year in america... That'd be cool if its a possibility at corporate level once ive got the experience and qualifications... Good luck with everything, xxx
Very impressive marie! With an MBA, the world is your oyster (provided it's at a fairly good uni!). I wanna do an MBA one day... : This probably is not a career path that you will even be considering...but some of the big investment banks will sponsor MBA students to work anywhere they wanna live worldwide. They organise all your visas and everything for you! x
Thanks for all your help Nat! Im still not sure what real job i want to do yet... im going to think about it over the next year at disney xxx
There are many americans wanting to work for Disney, too, so the competition is really big. Like mentioned before they will not hire you ( because the visa process is just too much work and effort for them ) unless you have some super qualifications. We had a manager from the UK in the german pavillion though who once started as an IP: She married an american though ( whom she met while being an IP ) and then became a manager later. Julia
3 months program is the College program....you can still go on the IP, because they are 2 different programs. You just couldn't go on the IP twice. Julia
Disney want Really specific qualfications - my degree is Geography/IT related(Geography ain't something Americans seem to study!!) and was offered work experience (unpaid and in my own time) by chatting away to a guest - who later turned out to be a cast member. At the time, they were trying to recruit for a Geographical Information Systems position on a basic salary and couldn't fill it. Disney need everything - it really is a 'world!' the more obscure your qualifications - the more chance you have of getting a permanent job with them!!
