Hey Chatty. I went with travelinsurance.co.uk (their policy is with insureandgo but they seem to be a couple of quid cheaper for some reason) in the end and got the silver backpackers one which came to £66.47 which covers medical and travel and includes baggage and has a £60 excess, which I thought was pretty good for the price. You can just print off the insurance certificate and policy wording booklet thing to take with you and that should be fine (i think?) but I payed the extra pound for them to send me the documents in the post which includes the card. It takes them 5-10 working days for them to send that stuff out to you, so if you wanted that you would have to get them to send it you in america or have it forwarded on to you from here! Hope this helps and good luck with getting it all sorted!!

Yeah, you've just gotta make sure you meet all the minimum requirements when you get insurance..Otherwise you'll be coming straight back home if the minimum requirements aren't met..Well, i would have thought so anyway, i doubt that its negotiable..

I got mine from STA for £266.40, but im going for the year..Also they did me a deal and i got 10% off! ;D So its normally £296 for the year i think..

I also used the 10% off at STA travel and got 7 months for £196 i think its normally £219 or something like that and as they deal with students I suppose that they know what is best! Just think about it as maybe the more expensive policies will be wrth getting becuase if you do need to claim, the cheaper ones usually have clauses which mean they don't have to pay you! Bottom line = insurance deals that seem too good to be true, usually they are!

Yeah, definetly..Like the yummy one only covers the minimum and apparently you can hardly claim anything back if you do have an accident..

I was well happy with that 10% because i was guna go with them anyway..Bonus tho!

Also if you wana look at the minimum requirements the insurance has gotta meet then its on yummys step by step guide to make sure you get to orlando! I found that backpackers insurance didn't meet the minimum requirements to be honest when i looked, but maybes thats just because im going for a year..

It says there the minimum requirements for your visa, so i guess if the requirements aren't met then it affects your visa..

Did you get the standard one John? Mine runs out a month after the programme finishes so I have it for travel time too I was well chuffed! My friend had one of the minimum insurances when we worked in NJ last year and he punched a glass window when he got locked out of his flat and it ended up costing him $3000 and an early trip home! U.S hospitals are a complete rip off so have fun but don't think drunken pool diving is a good activity!

Yeah, i got the standard one, did you? Its not really your average standard one tho, it'd be gold at most places! You can claim up to £3million for most things!

Thought i'd go with STA as well, because they seem like a pretty good company, i got my flight with them as well and that was cheap as chips as well! Most of the other places were quoting about £300 atleast..

I'd say if you get a quote below about £250, its guna be awful anyway i would say, like if you have an accident i doubt u'd get much money back only paying that..

yeh i got standard becuase i couldn't see much difference in comparison with the more expensive one! STA are class. My flight was like £650 with them but compared to other airlines it was practically half price!

  10. ive got my insurance, went with insure and go....70 odd quid, which will do me fine. btw...the program assessment fee, do we pay that b4 we go or wen we get there.....coz on the acknowledgement form it gives a link and tells u to pay it b4 u get to florida, but in one of the disney booklets it says that it is a post arrival expense?!
and also on the acknowledgement form it says it $82 and in the disney booklet it says its $72.

Dave..Go to the link and pay it, its alot easier..You can pay it when you get there, but its alot easier to pay it online i thought..

Nickie..Are you flying with virgin as well? I got mine for £380 one way thru STA with virgin..I looked on the virgin website and the same flight was £550! I duno how they get things so cheap..Itll only be about 6 weeks for you now won't it?

are you guys talking about travel insurance for the year or just health insurance? I haven't sorted out either yet! So STA is the way to go then?

  15. j0hnyoung

    j0hnyoung Guest

Yeah, its health travel insurance i think..Not sure tho, i dont really understand it, i just know that the STA one is definetly good enough for disney..I would say its the best that i seen..

STA is definetly the place to go..If you can find cheaper and better fair enough..But that was the cheapest i could find and you can claim pretty much all of the money back if you get injured!

you guys that got it through STA, was that online or over the phone?

Over the phone, i thought it was easier to negotiate a deal with them that way and ask questions etc..

there are 4 min requirments for the visa, medical benefits and repatriation are ok, but what does ' a deductible amount not to exceed $500' and the medical evacuation of $10000 mean? as i cant see this mentions in the insurance poilcys, or do they come under somthing else?

  19. elusivemoose

    elusivemoose New Member

The deductible could be in the terms and conditions- I think that means that they'll only pay for anything over $500 (so if your expenses came to $600 then you'd get $100 back? Not entirely surely on that one though)

I'm not sure where medical evacuation is, but I'm guessing that means that they'd have to be willing to pay at least $10,000 if you needed to get out of the country/flown back in a helicopter etc. Again someone correct me if I'm wrong!

  20. j0hnyoung

    j0hnyoung Guest

Yeah, your right..Deductable is the excess..So like was said..if the excess was $500 and you had paid $600, ud only get $100 back..

Remember though, thats a minimum and alot of companies offer bet..

You were right about the medicaly evacuation as well..They have to be willing to pay atleast $10,000 to bring you back to this country..

    With my STA standard policy..

The excess is £50 and the medical evacuation is something stupid like £2million!
