Hi Everyone....... Now that the frightening bit is over its time to get down to the nitty gritty, and thats sorting out everything to go.......I checked out the website and come across "insurance", not wanting to break a leg in disney and not be covered I was wondering whether anyone has any good information on Insurance companies.... Figured that since you guys are living the dream whilst us newbies are in the UK your wisdom would be appreciated.. Catch Ya Later Lyjanka ;D
I have questions about the same subject: Is it true that Disney covers our final 8 months, but we have to cover the first 4 our self?
You have to get the 1st 4 months cover yourself. Then disney will cover you after that but its not free you have to pay so much out of every weeks wage!!!!!! I'm not sure how much it all depends on what cover you want. correct me if im wrong guys I have got my own insurance for the full 13 months with STA travel it has cost me just under £400, the only reason why I have got the full duration is because I did not want any money taken out my wage as its not a lot to start with!! Just check everything with insurance such as excess, the insurance I have got myself I have payed and extra £5 and it waiver the excess. Some insurance you have to pay the 1st so much excess, so if you see the doc a couple times a yr and for example you have to pay the 1st $100 every time...... well you can all make your own minds up Hope that helps guys ;D Helen xx
Yeah, same as Helen, according to a previous post from a fellow cast member, YOU have to arrange cover for the first 4 MONTHS. How it was explained and works is something like this: YOU arrange cover (from the UK) for the first 4 months. DISNEY Insurance will ONLY come into effect on the 1st of the month AFTER your 3 months anniversary (service). They ask you to allow for ONE month overlap just incase there may be a 'hicup' with the process, so that you will ALWAYS be covered. Although YOU still pay DISNEY when they take over the cover, it is subsidised, so they pay some and you pay the rest. Make Sense? Ok, as an example: 07 FEB 2006            07 MAY 2006              01 JUN 2006              DISNEY (SUBSIDISED) INSURANCE MY ARRIVAL ---> ---> ---> MY 3 MONTH ---> ---> --->  1st OF THE    ---> ---> --->     COMES INTO EFFECT   DATE               ANNIVERSARY          NEXT FOLLOWING                      OF SERVICE              MONTH And although YOUR OWN insurance doesn't expire until after the fourth month, that means YOU WILL be covered for an overlap of one month for YOUR protection just incase there may be a delay with DISNEY insurance. DISNEY INSURANCE ONLY OPERATES FROM THE 1st OF EVERY MONTH. (So if like me, you arrive on the 7th, you still have to wait until the FOLLOWING 1st of the NEXT month. Also, depending on what COVER PLAN you choose, whether you include Dental or not... etc etc then it entirely depends. I seem to recall an average of $10 per week. Hope thats helped!
Being a late arriver, perhaps you guys could let me know how your insurance works out for you, and then i can work out what is best for me....hopefully i can find insurance with 'clumsy cover'....such as hitting your head most mornings on the ladder into the loft that has been there for 8 years! I'm going to wait for 'The Pack' to be sent first (They supply some reccommendations in there) before I decide on which one to be honest although STA looks ok!!
I got my insurance through Endsleigh cause I have some pre existing medical contitions and STA travel doesnt cover them. It cost a bit more than STA but I also got my laptop insured as well
Hi Izzy, Thanks for replying...I have the same problem I have an underactive thyroid that i have to take medication for....Im hoping that I will get a laptop before I go...
Afternoon All!!! Ok, just received my Info Pack from Yummy Jobs with basic info contained and the CRB form. It's Cheque writing time!! hehehe. The MEDICAL INSURANCE Company that DISNEY reccommend is called 'GATEWAY USA' and can be found at: http://www.gatewayplans.com/select.cfm (It goes without saying, you'll need the top one) Hope that is of use to you so that you can start shopping around. (I'm glad the UK isn't like this! Good 'ol NHS ay!!)
