Hey everyone hope you can help with this one... I know we need medical insurance but what about insurance for personal possessions ie. camera, laptop, mobile, passport etc When you go on a 'normal' holiday you take insurance that will cover medical and all the other stuff Whats everyone else doing??? Helen x
I went with STA travel for my insurance, and they seem very good- they cover you for all sorts- personal liability, medical, and contents. There are very few exceptions (mobiles and bicycles I seem to remember!) and for £5 extra, there's no excess either on anything. Their limits seem to be pretty reasonable as well. So I'd give them a look and see what you think- then you don't need to worry! Think they ended up slightly more expensive than Gateway, but since their limits were higher and it included possessions and personal liability (and since USA sues for anything!) and these weren't covered, I went with them. Sorry for rambling- I've just been on a leaving do- so this quite possible makes little sense! Sorry! :-\ Charlotte x
Hey Charlotte, So have you taken STA travel insurance for medical instead of gateway? Are they on the internet? (will have a look for it now) Thanks helen x
I got mine through Boots Travel Insurance - and booked for the whole 13 months lol. They cover loss/theft and all that good stuff - as well as medical conditions/accidents...pretty much anything you can think of. I got 13 months (including a pre existing medical condition) for £330
Hey Chloe thanks for that, I have just called the STA which Charlotte mentioned and they were £423 for the 13 months that was their top cover which I still don't think is bad for the 13 months. I just having a blond day lol, I know disney will sort out insurance out after the first 4 months but how much will this cost per month? coz in ther letter they sent us with our pack they said 'walt disney will provide health and life insurance for employees' after the first 4 months does this mean it doesn't cost anything?? Confused ??? Helen x
I think it the price per month you pay, depends on the plan you choose for Disney. My insurance for 13 months at Boots was the top end too because I have a medical condition. So if you're med con free it'll be even cheaper. I'd just rather get the insurance thing out of the way now so I don't have to worry about something else coming out of my wages.
so we do have to pay something per month out of our wage if we go with the disney one??? Yeah thats what i'm thinking get it payed and out of the way then all our wage if for us to enjoy ourself, thats why i'm paying for my flight as soon as i get there. Helen x
i could be completly wrong but i think i read somewhere that it is about $8 a week for the disney insurance. it can vary a little depending on whether you get dental coverage and that sort of thing.
Yeah, that's roughly what Barbara told me when I asked her. I decided to wait and see with the Disney insurance- you can opt out, so if its not as good as the one I've got, I'll just extend my current insurance! Charlotte x
Hey Charlotte, I got a price from STA travel insurance for 13 months it was just over $400 in total. That covers all medical inc dental, luggage, valuables, and sports ie skiing etc, which I dont think is bad . its so confusing lol Helen x
Do not get gateway!!! anything but that....it's awful!! I had to go to the doctors this morning (ear infection!! I'm in so much pain!) and it cost me $125!! the only way I'd get any money back from Gateway is if it was over $150 and then I'd only get 80% back....and still have to pay all upfront and then make a claim afterwards!! go with someone else....no matter how much it costs....do not get yourself into a position where you can't afford to get medical treatment!!! You'll never appreciate the NHS more than when you get here and realise the US medical system is horrendous!! Ellen x x x
