Hi there! I'm Max and I'm Italian and I'm pretty unsure about whether applying for J1 garduate Pr o CRP.Everybody tells me good things about CRP but no one can tell me much about the J1 graduate. 1- They told me during the courses u will have hard assignments and a final exam to get a degree in Hospitality. Do u know anything about this exam, Is it hard to pass or something like that? U need to study a lot during the 6 months? 2- Is In the CRP so hard to be hired and on the contrary is it easier in J1 Graduate work and study program? In CRP your english MUST be fluent? I really appreciate If someone could answer me. Thank u x your help! max
Ciao Max! I was told by Yummy Jobs, the people who recruit for Disney here in the UK and Canada, that it is harder to get into the CRP program than the J1 program... but to be honest I think they're probably equally hard to get into! From what I gather your English must be fluent to the point where you can communicate effectively, but your English is better than our Italian! (And I studied Italian at school haha!) I think you would be fine As for the exam, I didn't get the impression there was one, I think its just classes, but you'd have to get that cleared up with someone in the know... There is a board on here with J1 people on it If you have any other questions about the CRP feel free to message me- I may even attempt to reply in Italiano hahaha (you will have something to laugh at then!) Helen
Hi, I did the J1 program last year. I only had a short interview over the phone to get onto the program, so really easy but I think it was because I applied late. Unless they have changed it since July, the courses are really not worth much, you do 2 classes in 4 hours a week at "university" - we were the only ones on campus those days and the courses are specially for this program so its not really like studying at a US university. They were going to make us do exams and homework but the previous lot of kids had complained so all we had to do was turn up to the class to pass! Well they did give us a test but they were really easy and didn't really count for much. Perhaps it would be more interesting/challenging if you are not English - it would definately improve your English, and the non-speakers were really good after 6 months - or if you were used to a different education. I suppose having done a rigorous science degree in the UK, I saw it differently, and there is a reason why Americans have to do 4 years at college, rather than 3 in Europe...! Saying that, I did have an amazing time, I just don't think the classes were worth $2000. I reckon the CRP is a better bet, I applied this year. As to fluency (you sound pretty good to me!), it depends on your role perhaps but some of my co-workers. mpstly Chinese, had very little English, but improved ALOT! Good luck, and remember this is just my opinion, others may had had a different experience!!
