I've just found out about the WDWIP and was wondering if I should apply :/ I'm at a stage in my life where I'm just not going any further forward...stuck in a job which was only meant to be temp, haven't got many friends and have just got out of a crappy relationship. I LOVE Disney and have been to Orlando many times as a kid thanx to my grandparents and always thought it would be amazing to work there. I finished uni last year with a HND in Fashion and Textiles but I'm doing nothing with it and I'm wondering if it was a complete waste of time lol The thought of leaving the UK and working in another country in rather daunting but something I think I need to do to get back some of my confidence and independence. Working for Disney would be like a dream come true. Sorry for this long topic but I was just wondering what everyone thought, if it would be a good idea or not. I know I'd need to save some money to pay for flights and Visa etc Thank You Wendy X
Go for it! You definitely sound like you need a change of scenery! Maybe a year out will help change your perspective and open your eyes up to new things! The interview process can be a long one so go for it, if you get through then yay and if not maybe it's time to start assessing things back home and seeing which direction you want to head in!
Hey there! I think you should defo look into applying for Cultural Rep Program (CRP). You would be working in EPCOT for a year in either food and beverage or merchadise. If you are looking for a way to gain confidence.. this is defo a great way.. it really helped me when I did the ICP over the summer's. And I personally feel it makes you re-evaluate your path in life. Since doing the programs I have really looked at my life differently and where I want to go with it. Hannah x
Hi Miss Wendy Disney is a great opptunity, its the chance to go abroad and spnd time away with new people and experiences. You might find the answers you seek, its worth the year away, you might miss you friends and family but in the long run you'll make friends that will soon become a family.
Hi! I haven't done the programme yet but have been accepted for the CRP and am going out in December. I am really looking forward to it as I too have come to a bit of a stand still at home. I haven't had the greatest luck with uni experiences and all the struggles with friends at uni and am really looking forward to getting to know a whole new group of people and start a fresh in a place that i love! I think you should go for it! Even if somewhere down the line you decide against it, there's no harm in applying. The great thing about these programmes (from what I've read and the conversations I've had with others) is that we all have a collective appreciation for Disney, so there's already something we have in common! I hope this helps, let us know how you get on! Kirsty xx
Hey, definately go for it huni. i know how u feel bout not thinkin you're goin anywhere. since i finished sixth form FOUR YEARS AGO all iv had is stupid pointless jobs, uni wasnt for me at the time, but hearin the great times my mates had wen they were at uni made me think oh my god i have to do somethin, so wen i got back from disney in 2005 the first thing i done was apply to work there! i cant wait to get out there, meet new people from all over the world and jus hav the time of my life (i hope lol). i leave in 5wks, it is a looong process but definately worth the wait if u get accepted. i had a telephone interview and 2 face2face ones in london, even the interview/presentation day is somethin to remember, both times were great and im gonna be workin with quite a few people i met at my 2nd interview, which is gonna be fab! sorry i know this is long, but u sound like a really nice girl and i think u should def giv it a go! xXx
Thanx alot you guys Just a few questions for you all... How many interviews are there?..I'm from Norfolk in England so I guess I'd have to go to London for the interview. Does anyone who has got through have any tips for the covering letter to make sure I get an interview? lol If I was accepted how long is the wait to get out there? There are so many things I want to ask but I don't want to sound boring as I'm sure you have heard all these questions before. Wendy x
There is jus usually one face2face, i went to 2 bcos i was meant to go on a seasonal programme last may but disney didnt hand the visas in on time so they invited me back a few months later to interview me for CRP. Yeh u would need to go london huni, im from pboro, not too far from u dont think, u make a day of it if ur there, go for lunch with the girls/guys u meet at the interview, it is a good laugh! As for the covering letter, really sell it, obviously dont over do it cos they dont wanna think ur tryin to make out ur better than anyone else hehe, but jus put in wat sorta personality u hav, wat u feel about disney and basically wat u could bring to the company! As im replacin someone i dont know exactly how long it would usually take it u were first pick, but i know i only had like a month from wen i was told id been accepted to wen they wanted me to fly out, unfortunately im havin soo much trouble with my visa and so im missin out on a couple months of my time there, anyway i hope that helps xXx
Oh yes thats another thing the Visa I have no idea how u go about getting one, omg theres so many things to think about. Do u have to go to the Embassy too?
Dont worry about the visa just yet.. Yummy will help you out with all that and it is quite a simple process. You will be required to go to the Embassy in London but that doesnt take place until about 2 weeks before your departure date.
Sounds familiar! DO IT! GO FOR IT! You're only young once and don't turn down a life time opportunity!
That is exactly how I was. Dead end job, not many friends, and getting out of a bad relationship. I thought "Hey, I always said I would run away to Walt Disney World, so I am going to give it a try." And now I get my wish. I figure it is a great way to start new. To get away from life here in Canada and I think the experience of meeting people from all over the world will really help me figure out who I am and what I want to do. Plus I love Disney, and love making people happy and giving them the amazing time that I always had there over the years of visiting. I say go for it. I think it will really help you out a lot I think. And don't give up easily on it. I applied three times since I decided I had to do this. I was too late the first time, the second time I got the phone interview but not the F2F and the third time I got it all and got in. Hope to see you there. I wish you the best of luck with it. But I agree with everyone, don't let this pass you by. You could end up retreating it for the rest of your life. Your home will be waiting for you at the end of your year.
