Hey guys ;D i think this is one question which would have alot of views on, as we all know in the U.S.A Alcohol can only be drunk by people over 21 , however if your under 21 and your use to going out alot dont you find it hard to not drink as if your under 21 and you get caught drinking you get terminated :-\ Im just wondering what all your views are on this ;D
Hehe....I think you've answered your own question! If you want to drink, and find it hard to drink, then yes, it's better to be 21
Hey there, if i get through the interview and get to go i'll be having my 20th bday party over there and no drink for a year!! :'( But as long as there is music, women and a dancefloor I'll be fine !! I'm sure there will be a lot of us that are under 21 going but doesn't stop us having a good time, just get your dancing shoes on and strut your stuff.
You see if i go over there i would be turning 21 so what would happen in that situtaion with the commons aspect??? ???
I'm not 100% sure but I believe before you're 21 you'll be living in an apt. with other "minors". Then once you turn 21 you'll have to move into an apt. with people over 21 years of age. I may not be right about that but this is what I've gathered off this message board (although I wasn't trying to piece it together very much, I'd be 22 when I went so it dosn't concern me all that much).
If you turn 21 while you're there I don't know if they move you to non-wellness. I'll only be 21 for about 10 days before I come home so I'll obviously stay in my origional apt lol
But isn't the point of wellness to be in a place with other minors to sort of group them together. Kinda like this apartment is alcohol free. I could be wrong/have the wrong impression but I would assume if thats the case, they'd want to move people over 21 out of wellness to keep wellness for the minors.
Wellness is for minors and if u want a free alcohol apt, u can ask for it if u turn 21 shie u are there, u can ask to move to and a no wellness apt it depends on you i think is better been there when u alredy are 21 because if u are in a party and decurity comes and theres alcohgol u can get terminated, even if u are only holding someone alcohol, i read a similar history, it could be hard, but its a magic palce 21 or not u will had a lot of fun!!! XOXO :-* :-* :-* Ely :-* :-* :-*
On the CP alot of people were drinkin alcohol who were underage, personally i did not want to risk the opportunity of a lifetime and had some guys, who i did not know (long story)bring alcohol to my apartment so i left my apartment, went to my boyfriends, rung my apartment and told me housemate i didn't want them there and it was sorted. I knew some people who got caught and didnt get sent home (which i personally did not agree with as it was constantly pointed out the situation bout underage drinking) but were suspended and some people who got sent home but my advice is dont risk it, it will permenately be on ur record if u ever wanted to return to the USA and wen i went PI with a group of my friends, half of us were under 21 and the other half over and we constantly had cops watchin us. Moral of the story dont risk it, it's one year of ur life and i didnt drink for three months and i used to go out three times a week and i survived fine! xxxxx
Hi, just my personal experience here, no one get upset... I was only 19-20 when I was there. There were very few times where I thought, oh man I wish I was 21 right now. I was able to drink underage, yes it was dumb, I know and I wouldn't have argued had they kicked me out. But I am a "responsible" drinker, lol... I know my limit. As for apartments, my roommate turned 21 a month after we arrived and they never asked her if she wanted to move to a non-wellness, just gave her a new 21 commons ID card. She stayed in that apt the whole time with minors. And if I can be really frank, there were plenty of throw-ins (Canada and other pavilions) where security would watch or drive by and they knew you were drinking... I guess I would recommend, don't be an obnoxious, falling all over drunk and you'll do ok. And never challenge security, especially after you've had a few! Guaranteed term right there.
aka "traveller" -- get one and use it!! EVEN IF YOU'RE 21 you're not allowed to have open liquor containers (even beer cans) outside in public areas, even for throw-ins/outs but it's not really an issue if it's in your own traveller. You'll be fine if you're careful! ~*~Linda~*~
Simple answer is Yes. You can get away with most stuff underage, but the benefit of being 21 is that you don't have to worry or be looking over your shoulder. You can go anywhere and do anything. I'm not just talking about drinking, but even renting a car, booking a hotel room, etc. I waited until I was 21 and it was the best decision I ever made. You are a lot older too. A lot of over 21's may have the benefit of having lived away from home already too, which makes adapting a lot easier. I even waited until I was done school because then I also didn't have the burden of having to think about assignments while I was there. Or, didn't have to go back to school when I got home, I was free to do whatever I wanted. My advice would definitely be to wait. Shannon
I turned 22 out there and found that being 21+ I could hire cars much more easily (and cheaper too - hey, working in Merch every penny counts! ) and go to certain bars (HoB, Jellyrolls, a couple of bars in downtown Orlando etc.) - dollar beers and singing along to Billy Joel's Pianoman at the top of my lungs brings back many fond memories ;D But I guess if you're under 21 you don't miss these things because you've not experienced them so I guess it makes no difference! Its what you make it at the end of the day
ok so being under 21... you are only restricted to alcohol? you can still get into most clubs and can you still go to all the parties in your accommodation? i dont really care if i cant drink..but i love dancing and partying so ill want to be able to do everything else...
House of Blues and Jellyrolls are both over 21s.....and I think some of the downtown orlando clubs are too!!! Cheers (a bar near Walmart...which if you're over 21, DEFINITELY go to for a more chilled out pub-like night!! Wednesdays are Kareoke!) is over 21! x
If you're under 21 and in a wellness apartment you can't really party in your own apartment as if security are called the apartment are kicked out. Also if you are caught out drunk you are usually suspended. One of my arrival group got caught and sent home and it was really sad cause he was so nice. As long as you're sensible then I think its not an issue but you have to be more careful with drink if you're under 21 because the rules are so tight over there. There are loads of clubs you can get in to and stuff under 21 and there's always a party on at the commons you can crash.
