ID cards

This may have already been metioned but when do we get our ID cards? I know we get them in Florida but ive read people sayin that we can only get them the day we arrive before a certain time so im arriving at bout 7ish so will i have to get them the next day coz on my first day there i'd kinda like to go see some sorta fireworks and was just wonderin if i could start using my ID card to get in the parks or will i have to wait?? Ne help in answerin this will be much appreciated and im just wonderin coz im so excited and impatient bout knowin bout stuff lol

You get a temporary white ID card at first and then get your picture one about a week later. I arrived at night too and if I remember right I'm sure we got our park pass the next day after the first class as a bunch of us went running off to the Magic Kingdom that afternoon just because we could get in for free!!!

Not sure, it may have changed now as it's been a few years since I did the program.

But all I remember is arriving around 10pm at night all on my own off the Glasgow flight, getting to the Commons luckily to be met by one of my Uni friends who was already out there, get into my apartment, then get dragged back out to a UK "throw-in" (very interesting!) where you get to meet lots of UK folk, then finally get to bed around 1am to have to get up again around 7am for the first class at around 7.45am complete with jet lag!!! But still have enough energy later on to go to the parks!!!!

I was lucky as my Uni friend got me some food to do me for my first few days! You guys are lucky now as they have built a Publix right near the Commons now that wasn't there when I was there!!!

yeah it only lasts a year so i wont be bothered by je lag either lol ;D

 

It's hard to stay awake on the first day when they're going through all the boring administration stuff!!!

 

.....really....oh no...im a reallybad daydreamer..so i my mind may wander,and even more so if its boring..........u do lots of paper work when u arrive?

You get the first two days off so that you can organize all your stuff go out and buy food,

If you notice on your disney pack there is a sheet saying the day that you are actually starting to work is two days after you get there, and that is when the orientations will begin. I dont think that they would leave us high and dry for not being able to go and get set up

tey took us to walmart on our first day, after maybe 4 hours of sleep, a jetlag and the classes! haha! and we went to get our social security number, but i don't remember if that was on the first day or the second...
about the publix, i heard it never opened ??? haven't been there since 2001 and they hadn't started building it yet...would be really cool, if it was there! but if you're really hungry the first day, well there's a breakfast with muffins provided by commons housing the first moring (they still have that, don't they??), but you gotta be quick, cause everyone can go there and grab sth! and then you have your roommates, just ask them...or you go to the mall for lunch! yummy!!

i also think that housing gave us something to eat and drink when we arrived (sandwich, apples, juice, ...stuff like that!)

hey bry! you should really do that! even though it's gonna be hard! i was too excited to sleep and i met some other germans on the plane so we spent most of the time talking! but the first week you'll hardly get any sleep so you should seize every moment!!

i suffer so bad with jet lag and i get so moody, so i apologise 2 all in advance!

we wont arrive til gone 7 i can see it, so im gona try sleep on the plane but ill b so excited theres no chance
