Hey guys! Ive seen a few discussion threads for those ICPr's going in summer 2006, and its great we can all introduce each other to each other etc! But i thought id start one up where we can ask each other questions etc, save it getting muddled up with all the personal info, what do you reckon? Anyway, my question is... Is anyone going with a friend, or are you going on your own? Im going by myself, and ive never been that far away from home before! Its pretty scary beans :-\ But im excited! Im worried cos im not flying out until June 25th- am i going to be behind all the rest of you, most peeps seem to be flying out earlier?! Also is anyone 'down with the lingo' on this site- im guesing F&B is food and beverage, but the peeps doing that seem to know where they are working so i guess those posts are by year long people? Also what is pavillions? Sorry for all the questions- but im bursting with them! Hey Im Michael a pavillion is like your country.. i.e. Uk Pavillion, chinese Pavillion, Mexican pavillion etc etc etc im goin over alone as well and im pretty sure most are but my girlfriend is already working over there as we speak.. She in F&B and went in September and is doing the year long haul.. im doing my 3 months in her last 3 months and we hope to go off for a travel when we finish before returning back to Blighty.. nice to meet you Gem..
there doesnt seem to be a lot of other ICPr's about :-\ theres some on the introduction forum, but not that have posted in ages. its a shame disney doesnt have an offical site/meeting place like this! i think itd be good for everyone to get the chance to talk to some people in the same boat as them. I just hope a lot of people find this site before june! id like to know people a bit before i get there. Hugs Gem x0x
Don't worry about it, the good thing about being an ICP is that you can work in places other than Epcot! We'd all love to do that so don't think that being one of few ICPs is a bad thing! And most join up to the programme on their own so you'll be in the same boat as a lot of people.
Hey everyone! I glad i found someone else with the same worries as me! I'm going alone and on June 25th ( from gatwick -where you flying from?) By the sounds of it though lots of people go alone and later in the summer as well so i'm sure it'll be all good! So are most people out there for a whole year instead of just for the summer?? I'm so excited now - i'm gonna be working in operations and can't wait to find out what park i'll be in!! see ya Elaine xx
Hey All, I'm doing the ICP this summer.... only thing is, I'm from Canada. Probably not exactly what you were looking for, but too bad! I know there are quite a few of us Canadians who will be there just for the summer. I've heard that there are around 30 that are arriving the same day as I am, May 14. Anyways, see y'all soon!
hey, i did the icp program in 2004 andloved it. dont worry about not knowing anyone because you will as soon as you arrive. everyone is in the same boat. i loved it so much im on the 12 month program at the moment. just make the most of your program, it will go over so quickly
Oh ya! For some reason I thought you guys were all year longs going in June. My bad! It'll be good to have more Western Canadian representation down there. Too bad y'all didn't get an earlier arrival date, even though you got accepted like 5 months before... Oh well, getting to go is better than not going at all right? The other thing about being ICP that was kinda mentioned is the work location. I think we're pretty much guaranteed NOT to work at EPCOT since they want to fill those up with Cultural Reps. This means we'll be put anywhere else in the parks! I wonder where I'll be...
Hey Gemma! ;D Im Chrissie, Im doing the ICP as well. I leave on May 30th and Im doing quick service F&B. Technically, Im going on my own but I've kept in touch with a couple of girls from my interview, and Ive been speaking to a few people from this site and from the email addresses Yummy jobs gave me with the people on my flight. As has been discussed before, most people will be in the same boat. But by the time you arrive, alot of us will have been there for neary 4 weeks! @michael I arrived with her... we went to the traditions together with craig... anyways, I had to go home 5 weeks ago, because university has started again... :-[ But you will surely have a blast over there.
