So from the email after the phone call, what roles do you have the option to do in the summer? And more importantly which are you going to choose?! I have: Quick service F&B Full service F&B Merchandise Character Performer Operations (Attractions/Park Greeter/Parking) Lifeguard Custodial Costuming-Backstage Vacation Planner Recreation Bell Services Quick service - Kitchen only Character Attendant Role hopper (Quick service F&B/Merchandise/Operations) Personally, I was not expecting a huge list like this that takes up two pages, but I think I am going to go for the following (in order): Operations Character Attendant Role Hopper
I was originally going to put Character attendant as my first choice but I'm having a few second thoughts about it. Mearly for the reason that I've never yet been spoiled by seeing a character without their...hat, and I'm a tiny bit feared that it'll spoil some of the magic if I do. So... Operations (Character Attendant) Merchandise Recreation And I might put Lifeguarding, but only as a last resort. I've done that before, and although I had a great time with it, I want to try something different with more guest interaction.
your list was longer than mine, most of them were taken off when i got mine. not sure what order, i may ask about the likely hood of getting them. Character Attractions character Attendant Merchandise im not the best swimmer so life guarding is out. and ive had enough of food service from all my years at mcdonalds...even though i know it would be different at disney. i would prefer to do something towards my degree.
I wouldn't have a problem being a Lifeguard, although if I wanted to spend my summer lifeguarding, I can do that here in the UK like I did this summer. I know it would be slightly different lifeguarding at Disney, but I dont think I would get as much satisfaction and guest interaction as other roles available. But then again, if this was the only way to go next summer, I am all for it!
I really want to work on attractions, merchandise, restaurants or character attendent. Not sure I'd be good as a lifeguard lol.
Hey. Did you get this in a word document where you have to number your choices, or what? Thanks, Liam.
Where did you get that list, thats different from the one i got? I wouldnt mind being a lifeguard but i dont think i would be a very suitable one!
Yes, it was from the word document titled "ICP Role Checklist Summer 2009.doc", and it requires you to number your choices. I sure hope they dont want me to number all the choices.
I didnt have character attendant, lifeguard, attractions or role hopper on mine. This is my list from the list you have given: Character Performer Attractions Character Attendant Merchandise
yeah, i'm the same as leom! my list just extended lol! so from yours, it would be: Operations (ours was originally just main entrance ops) Role hopper Full service F&B Merchandise Costuming-Backstage Quick Service F&B (Recreation) - don't know what that is!!! xx
our list was shorter! we had: Quick Service F&B Main Entrance Ops Merchandise Full Service F&B Custodial Housekeeping Bell Services Character Performer Costuming - backstage role so we had housekeeping in addition! what does recreation say it does? xx
I think everyone gets a different set of options depending on your CV, phone interview and the like. Doesn't really seem fair though as we should all have the same opportunity to do everything. In some ways though, less options would be easier to make a desicion on numbering!
Recreation Assisting guests in one or more recreational areas such as towel rental, watercraft rental, marina operations, arcades, children’s activities, slide operations, or resort recreational facilities Keeping work area clean Maintaining safety standards Experience prolonged exposure to outside weather elements Not really what to make of this role to be honest. I know the roles are vague, but this is extremely vague!
maybe, but everyone who had them at the start of sep got the same list..... ahh well, i guess we'll get a final list on mon!! xx
Vauger than most I think! Though it sounds like you'd be working at a resort instead of a park (or maybe a waterpark?) I especially love 'prolonged exposure to outside elements'! just in case we hadn't got that from all the other jobs that say work outside! xx

Well I think at this point they just needed to fill bullet points. Keeping your area clean and maintain safety standards along with working outside in hot conditions is a role for all cast members, and this is said on many Disney website. Basically, I think Recreation is just an excuse to fill any places they have at the time, or where they need extra staff. I know at my leisure centre we are sometimes refered to as Recreational Asssistants, and essentially we run around and do anything that is required. Can be fun though as you never know what you are going to be doing next.
Does anyone have the Disney description from their list for a Character Attendant? I already know what's involved in the role, but i would like to know what exactly they are looking for experience wise. It's my #1 (and practically ONLY) choice. I have always wanted to do it.
Character Attendant Maintaining show quality and Character integrity Directing guests on taking appropriate photographs Providing audience control Set up and removal of stanchions, ropes and poles Retrieving and arranging strollers Not sure where the stroller bit comes from, although the fun you can have with strollers
I will need to rethink all the this. I had my list before now its got more on it so more choice, wooohooo!
