Basically I have been signed off work for a couple of weeks as I have been very unwell...this has left me in a bit of a sticky situation...

    1. I am very short of money now (due to being on unpaid sick leave) and I am going to have to keep my bank overdraft open when I leave...can you transfer money from a US account to a UK account easily?

    2. How much do we need for the first few weeks when we are out there? I am probably going to have like $300 which really doesn't seem enough :S

    3. Do you think I need to mention to Disney that I have been signed off sick, the doctors don't know what it is and it could come back? I don't want to ruin my chances of working there and it might not come back...however I leave 17th Feb so I don't know if it will have completely cleared by then...

Oh, the dilema's I get myself into...

But if anyone has any advice on this it really would be greatly appreciated :)

I think $300 is doable providing you have already paid for your housing fee & anything of that nature. As long as you spend your money sensibly, I think it can be done.

No idea about sending moolah back to the UK I'm afraid.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you not getting paid sick leave? Unless you have already had 30 days off, you should be entitled to it.

As for telling Disney...that's a toughie. Personally, I would keep schtum but that's just me.

I only started my job in December (at the time I was still on the waiting list for CRP) and statutory sick pay comes into play after your probabtion period of 3 months, so I had to take the time off unpaid.
Yeah, I am thinking I might not mention it to Disney, but then if I come down ill it might come back and bite me in the ass.

I'd be most worried that if it comes back your insurance covers it.

Yeah I never thought of that, I might have to check.

Its nothing I need medical attention for though...I might just not declare it. I don't think it should cause any problems. If it was questioned I might just pass it off as stress related.

Western Union is also another good way of transfering money over. This is available thoughout the states in major banks.

I always thought Western Union was something used by dodgy Nigerian scams! I never realized it was legit...doh!
