    Hi guys,

Hi there, well it al depends on how crazy you go in your first week, if your over 21 and you drink alot, you will need to bring alot but if not, $500 t0 $600 should be ok for the first 2 weeks untill you get paid, I bought $600 and that lasted me the first 2 weeks, although I didnt go out every night drinking!

Take as much as humanly possible. There's far too much stuff to do and when you get there you will be on a lower wage and it doesn't last long. If you take more, you can live it up with the servers and participate in more days of fun for longer before being poor. Plus it's really, really hard not to go out everynight! i used to save my wage up for house of blues on a sunday and not be able to do anything for the rest of the week! I'm being more prepared this time.

It isnt that hard not to go out every night at the moment.
I been doin 6 days a week since i got here, and my shifts have ALL been till like 1am, 2am, 3am in the morning.
So Ive been here for 4 weeks and only been out drinking 3 times.

When I came out the first time, I brought around $800. I brought that much to make sure I had enough money til my paycheck and also, enough money to buy a flight ticket home if I ended up not enjoying my time there. I loved my time there so never bought the ticket though i ended up using the extra money for mediacl bills when i had to go the dotor as my insurance i had (before Disney's started) wasn't accepted, and you had to pay in full and then try and claim it back. Thankfully i had the extra money.

I recommend bringing as much money with you as you can, as it's better to have too much than not enough.

Oh I'm glad you made this board Haylay. I was worried my $1200 wasn't going to be enough. I have to buy stuff like a cellphone and hairdryer etc so might end up spending around $200 on my first trip to walmart. :D

only $200 on ya first walmart trip?!!!

i reckon im going to spend more than that - bedding, hairdryer, straighteners, mobile phone, ethernet cable and oh yeah food hehe

im going to take as much as i can so prob between $1200-$1500 it depends on if my cat needs and treatment when i take her for her checkup or not on how much i bring

Well I won't need straightners (my hair is poker straight! too poker straight :() and am bringing an ethernet cable with me. :D I'm being really bad though and looking at getting a T Mobile sidekick. They're about a hundred and fifty dollars though - dunno if I can really justify that... :-X

I brought 1000 with me and it's JUST lasted me long enough before paychacks started and I brought bedding and straigteners and hairdryer and loads of other stuf with me. the money went on annual passes and random shopping and nights out and food in the parks etc.

Don't worry about high costs for anything though. my phone cost me 20 dollars, you can get other electricl things dirt cheap and tbh, I've barely used the straighteners because my hair is tied back at work. And I've not gone out a lot either these first few weeks. You have 8am starts for a good few days at the beginning so really, the first week you won't want to go out late!

right now I have 50 dollars, and that's basically because I got paid about that much for last week. But we get paid today, I just need to pick up my check tomorrow :)

I want a sidekick. Really really badly. I already have a cell phone but it looks like it was made in the eighties so an upgrade is in order methinks. At least i can use the sim...
I also have a major shopping problem, i recently went shopping for shoes and ended up spending £200 in topshop and all saints. I've vowed to not go anywhere near leeds or manchester until i've bought my dollars!

ive told all ym family and friends that for my bday (nov) and xmas that i want them to either give me cash o some $ instead of presents as i will need the cash more out there. so my dad already gave me my bday and xmas money and for one mate gave me $20 and my sis gave me $10 for easter and then another $10 she found in her purse from last year lol

i reckon that will all add up to a couple of hundred so yayness! of course on ym bday and xmas ill be all sulking cos i asked for money lol

im just happy that the only cost left now is health insurance - any money i have left after that is coming with me and my last payday at work is 21st and all thats being changed to dollars too

im a shopaholic tho so its been killing me since finding out i was going i havent been splurging at all! normally i go to the theatre at least once a month and eat out 2/3 times a week but all that has had to stop - ah the sacrifices will be worth it tho right?

I'm under 21 so don't have to worry about money for drink. We seemed to spend quite a bit on our first few days but since we have all started working all we are spending on is food at work for lunch and snacks etc. You could make lunch at home and bring it in if you can't afford to buy lunch every day. Walmart seems to be where all our money is going since at the moment we don't have time to play in the parks or do any other kind of shopping. Its so easy though to go out to the parks and not spend much especially when you are working in them. I would just say take as much as you can afford and budget it till you get your 1st pay check which wont be very much.

I took bedding and clothes with me so didn't need to worry about paying for them when i got here and remember whatever you buy on that 1st shop you need to get it home on the bus. The bus is usually full so you cant use the seat next to you.

see you all when you get here

Well I called T Mobile today and they said that I am able to transfer my UK contract to a US one. I'm really chuffed with that cuz I was facing a cancellation fee.
