hey, ive been around here for a while but never actually posted. Everytime i read your posts i get more excited about this opportunity! Anyways, to the question, I applied january 2nd to cast-a-way, and then i sent them a follow up email on the 16th, and still havent heard anything back. How long before i start bugging them? I dont want to be annoying, but i want to make sure they get my resume and read it. ANy tips or suggestions? thanks in advance!

  2. I'd say just give them a call and say you wanted to double check that they received your resume - I did that a few days ago. They were very friendly and said that it didn't hurt to stay in touch. I don't think they've started looking at the resumes yet. The phone number is (514) 694-1194. I got an email back a few days after I applied, and my friend got one the next day so maybe they didn't get yours.
What program did you apply for? What interviews are you planning on going to?
I applied for the summer program and hopefully will be at the Halifax interviews.

Yup calling them is a good idea, they're usually pretty good about communication but I also found when I was applying that at times it was better to "bug" them a bit.

I phoned and left a message, and Eric e-mailed me back right away and said that he had never recieved my resume!!!!!! He said e-mail it to him and he would get back to me. I e-mailed it to him right away, and he sent a reply saying he got it. This was all yesterday, so now I'm checking my e-mails every couple hours waiting for whats next haha! wish me luck!

I've heard a few people saying their resumes weren't received! I'll have to be sure to triple and quadruple check mine. :D

    Good luck with your application.

I emailed Eric today asking him when they were beginning the phone interviews, and he quickly replied and said he would be talking to me very soon.

Yup this topic is perfect proof as to why I always e-mail Cast-A-way immediatly after faxing them/sending them anything to ensure they got it.

They do great things for us, but they struck me as a little disorganised last year...

ya i think im gonna give me a call later too.... sent mine out on the 15th and got the automatic reply but that was it.... only 10 days later and heard that much more... anyone think i should give them at cast-a-way a shout just to make sure they got it?

hmmmm.... doesn't the automatic email reply mean they received it???
I just assumed that... but I also wanna be certain that they have all my stuff!

ya i presume so.... the automatic e-mail i got said if you didnt send us your resume and cover letter...please do... but i sent it in the e-mail i sent them so i dunno hahaha....

  13. ya I got the same email you did. When I called she said as long as I'd gotten some sort of reply they should have it...but calling can't hurt.

I would call, Im glad I did, or else its a long wait till next year to apply again. Speaking of calling, has anyone had a phone interview yet or an E-mail about a phone interview? I haven't heard anything since they said they recieved my resume on monday when i re submitted it. I am probably just being paranoyed haha.

They pretty much don't tell you anything and call out of the blue. I was pestering them last year (since I had to fly from Alberta), and I was one of the first people called.

Alright so I shouldnt worry yet then. Hey jorden, how were you able to work at mission space if you are from Alberta?

They basically sent me down on a college program (thats what I was considered) because they needed more seasonal workers (and some ICP alumni agreed to go back then backed out freeing up some spots. I replaced Rebecca from London England). The program started off with us in food somewhere randomly in the 4 parks (I was Epcot out door foods). 3 weeks after arriving an e-mail went out saying

I was a little late to reply because I found out through my managers I didn't get my transfer (although I knew a few coworkers who did). I was disapointed (a ride was what I wanted to do most at Disney) but enjoyed food more than I thought i would so I toughed it out. A week or two later when I went to get my schedule my jaw dropped because I was listed as "SPACE Training Attr." for my shifts instead of Hot Dogs, or Turkey, or Pizza or something. I freaked out (it was my day off) so I went to Epcot to try to figure out if it was Spaceship Earth or Mission:SPACE and to be honest I couldn't have been happier when I found out it was Mission:SPACE.

So long story short I spent 3/4 of my 6th month program in my dream job due to luck of the draw (I found out on that day off that someone had turned down their transfer in ODF and my manager had put my name down knowing it was something I really wanted to do. He said he dosn't know if that made a difference or if I was next on the list but either way I'm grateful he did that!).

Definatly! I really got my dream job and well I won't have to wait in line at Mission:SPACE when I get down there (well depending on who's working but even then, there's always Re-Ads!)
