In my interview I was told we get 50% of rooms for our family. Just wondering if this correct or do we get more or less? How do you go about booking rooms for family and are there any black out dates? I know I can't do it until I get my Portal password which means I have to wait til June. I'm just looking for info so my mom can start planning her trip down.

OK here goes... as I've just booked for my family.

If you stay in the room with your family, you get 50% off.

If you don't stay in the room with them, you get 40% off. If you don't stay then no more than 10 days before check in, you have to go and show your ID and sort everything out.

You can only book for 7 days. You can however (as I did) make multiple bookings...i.e. I booked 5 days then 5 days, and you hope the CM's at the resort keep you in the same room.

There are no blackout days, but when you get your username and password for the Cast Portal, I suggest you start looking as early as possible so that the hotel will not be fully booked on the dates you want.

I think that's all! It's fairly easy, but you must be registered on the Walt Disney World website.

    :D

Well that does sound a lot easier that i thought it would be. I thought for sure they would require your first born child and blood work of all who will be in the room. (ha ha that is a joke:))

Im goin over tomorrow morning and emma has booked us into the Carribean Beach Resort and it was all easy to organise etc...

there is also a Magical express bus you can arrange to pick them up from the airport and drop them off at the disney hotel they are staying at...

tell you what, these disney chaps certainly have it all covered ey :p

Magical Express is a wonderful service. It is currently free through to the end of 2006...Disney haven't announced yet whether they will be charging for it after that, although I hear that the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority yesterday agreed to allow it to continue operating through 2011.

With it being free, it is, or at least was at the time I came home, cheaper for two people to stay in Pop Century for a night and get DME to the airport, than to book a Mears shuttle!

Question: for summer college students, will they receive this portal password after 3 months? My daughter will be there for about 3 1/2 months, so I'm assuming we can get a discount after 3 months. I'll be thrilled if we can use it earlier... :)

I think you get it the week you arrive :-\ Least i hope you do.

Its the disney cruises you dont get the discounts for for three months - again i think so dont quote me on that.

I haven't been here 3 months and I've booked :D And I got my password the first week during orientation. I quite sure you get it early as you need it to access things you may have to do in your training classes (that's if you have to do them). Plus a lot of things are done through the portal, so I'd say everyone gets it asap. :D

So would it be possible to book for after u finish? My bf might be coming after I finish, but we're gonna be staying in Orlando for a couple of days, and it would be great to stay in a Disney Hotel!

I'm not sure about the exact requirements, but I know the first day has to be before the expiry date on your Cast ID, because they ask to see your ID when you check-in.

And for the same reason, you need to not be in an area which takes your ID off you on your last day of work!

  13. Thats great guys, thanks for all the info!
I'm booking my sister in at the end of May :)

I skim through these things, like I actually read in detail. Lol.

So, how long do I have to wait before I can take him into the park and get discounts on food and what not then?

What about the other discounts, like food and what not??

And is this resort discount applicable for the Swan and Dolphin?

  19. oooh I wonder.......
Amie and Theo will stay at All Star Music I believe...for the 3 Cabillaros pool, he's obsessed with that movie :D

also, you get park passes for your friends/family right away too right?

I'm so excited to plan tips for my family!

Yeah, you only get six days worth of passes though, and you have to be there for them to use them (i.e. at the main gates you go through a cast member turnstile and they will issue the rest of ur party with hopper tickets so you only need to show ur ID once each day...which is great if you're going to change parks throughout the day.)
