Historical Research Centre- Feb 2nd 2010

Hi all, i have just been accepted onto the program and will be working in the HRC. Does anyone know anything about the job role, wages or anything really as im not sure as it is not totally run by Disney?

Historical Research Center, Inc.

Historical Research Center, Inc. (HRC) an Operating Participant at the Walt Disney World® Resort, operates the Heraldry/Merchandise shop at the United Kingdom Pavilion. Working in this area, participants would be an employee of HRC, an independent company, but would still be a participant of the Disney International Programs.

Merchandise job duties may include:

Greeting and interacting with Guests while promoting the participant's cultural heritage
Demonstrating and selling pavilion merchandise in indoor and outdoor areas
Operating a computerized cash register
Setting up, stocking and cleaning shelves and carts
Maintaining the cleanliness of the shops

I dont remember much about what HRC is about but I think christina has pretty much wrapped it up there!! =p

Just curious, what perks don't you get with this role? Do you still get free entry into the parks?

 

For yourself but not for others. . so basically if family come to visit either they have to buy tickets or ask somebody else to let them in on their pass. not sure about what else you dont get. . but thats the main one

 

I used to work in HRC (2005-2006) if you need to know anything...

Hi ellen I wondered wot the wages were and the rent on the commons. Also wot the uniform is! Any pictures would be good and I suppose a general outline of wot u did would be good!!

I got offered this too! And before i accepted i asked loads of question, im sure i annoyed yummy jobs loads but i wanted to be sure! But i asked about the jobs, rent, free entry, discount etc to see what was diff to the Disney CRP and i found this out....

JOB DESCRIPTION
We meet and greet the Disney Guests
We show and tell this information with the Disney guests
We explain the content of the coat of arms its colors, symbols and its meanings
We tell of the origin of the name and important facts about the name and its meaning
We print these products on site
We matt and frame on site
We take orders for custom made items
We also have a data base of first names that we also can produce on site
We work on the register, ring sales and balance out
We balance out close of day figures and inventory

And for the benefits....

You have access to a “Green ID†allowing entry to the four theme parks and 20% discount within Disney on merchandise and f+b locations which increase to 40% with the cast holiday celebration at Christmas .

Twice during your program you will receive two “Park Hopper Tickets†that you can give to your family to allow them access into the parks. At this time the tickets are given to you in July and December.

Housing – live in one of the Disney housing locations either the Commons, Vista Way, Chatham Square or Patterson Court. Participants with HRC do pay a slightly higher rent, this is because the company is an operating participant with Disney and not a part of the Walt Disney World Co, who actually lease the housing from another company. The pay scales however are slightly higher for HRC and you also have the potential to have a pay rise throughout the program which merchandise cast members with Disney do not receive.

At this time you would not receive discount on the Disney Resort Hotels.

So thats what i discovered!

thank you so much for all of that info. i think when i got the call i was too excited to think about wot i had just agreed too!! all that matters is that i am going out there. i don't mind about the different benefits really, bit annoying about the higher rent but i suppose with pay rises available it wont be so bad.
ther only thing i do hope i get is housed with my friends that i have met already, although meeting new people will be good this would be a bonus.

thats ok!! i was excited too but i remebered to ask one thing then suddeny i thought of loads more things and just kept askin. i must have annoiyed them incredibly!! haha. think really programs are pretty much equal and i guess if get paid more it evens out! o well a year in my happy, ive been desperate to go back since ICP last summer so i cant complain!! x

Yes it is I!!!! And sadly not there now I got offered feb 2nd HRC

 

mine has been changed from feb 2nd to march 9th, still in HRC though so will be working with you no doubt!
