i guess its up to you and whether u can live without it what im doin is takin mine with me 2 serve the purpose b4 i buy a american pay as u go or contract which ever is better, cos i know im gona wana keep txtin ppl bk home as well as obv if ur out with loadsa mates from the commons and u get lost or obv just wana chat 2 em lol, its worth havin a phone xxx
i asked someone who lives in my town who did the program and they said you didnt need a cell phone...it wasnt worth it....but i cannot live without a cell phone...it'll drive me crazy!!!!!!
You don't NEED it of course! But would be useful in case you want to keep in touch with your friends all the time. I'm gonna take my current GSM phone with me and just change the chip with an American company
yeah exactly right people its not a necessity its just somethin people like to have! i guess i will, although im taking my laptop with me anyway so il be keepin in touch with people that way! xxx

hehe marie mines a quad band, but its also sim free phone so i cud get a new phone out there and b able 2 use my phone from him! all good! xxx
I got a cell phone in Florida. There are a couple of companies that offer a North America plan, which will give you unlimited calling...including long distance...in the US and Canada. It was great because I could call home all I wanted and my fam could call me all the time. I could also call the Commons and people there could call me. It worked really well...until we tried to pay the last bill!!! It was contract with AT&T...and even though they told me they could...they then said they couldn't send my last bill to Canada, so they sent it to a collection company and everything even though we were trying to pay it!!! It became a big mess...so I dont' recommend AT&T, but I recommend the North America plan if you're Canadian...although it was $50ish a month! Shan
