Hey everyone, I'm new, but I've been intrested in this program for a while now :D. I'm currently at college in the UK, but I'm leaving in June 2008 and I'm wanting to pursue the international program then, during my gap year. I'm just wondering whether any of you guys can tell me whether it's too early to start applying yet, and how long the process usually takes.
    Thankyou!

Thanks guys! ;D Just another question: Is it a disadvantage to be aged 18/19 when you go, cos I kno the drinking age over there is 21, and was wondering whether theres a lot of under 21s go, and what they think 8)

    Hey!

Where abouts in the Uk are you from? I finish college the same time as you and am interested in doing the international program for a year, so would probably look at applying the same time as you if you are definately going?

Thousands of international students go to work for WDW every year, your parents shouldn't be worried!

As for the under 21 thing - most people who go seem to be under 21 so you won't be alone. The only problem is; you can't drink (well... you're not supposed to). I myself am 22 but I don't really drink anyway, but I'm sure my mates over there are going to change that.

    heya..
just thought id add.. basically iv just finished college now
when i applied my intention was to go to do this program as my gap year
    but its not so easy
iv ended up with a december date meaning that if i wana go uni ..i have to take 2 years out, but i mean this is such an amazing experience its worth it, and as it happens.. i dont think uni is for me now,
you can tell them you can only go between july an sept 08 but its leaving not much flexibility.
anyway hope too see u all out there

    Hey!

I did the J1A program last year and I went from February 06 to January 07, so it all depends on what departure dates YummyJobs are setting up. As for applying, I applied for the UK CRP last month, and I don't plan on going until December 2008 (due to graduation ceremonies and all that jazz)! The sooner you get your application in, the better, so they then know you are interested and keep you up-to-date with all that is going on.

As for the drinking, this is a huge topic for me. I wasn't 21 until the last month I was in FL and so couldn't drink, and I didn't even though I know lots of under 21's did. I also know of under 21's who got terminated for it. I know I can't influence people not to drink when they shouldn't, but if working in Disney means enough to you, you won't risk getting fired for it! hehe

And on that bright note....toodles :p

For the drinking bit..Just wait and see what its like when you get there..Just remember its at your own risk if you get caught..

But ull see when you get there whether or not you think its a good idea to risk it or not..I guess it all just depends on if you can last without it and how much of a wild time you want etc..

But then that's like saying that people who don't drink don't have a 'wild' time. You don't need alcohol to go crazy, I worked that one out for myself.

But whatever floats your boat LOL

Yeah, but it is pretty funny when everyone is drinkin and you do do some crazy stuff. But like Jonh said, if you can last the time your here without it, then great come on down, but if you cant then maybe wait till your 21, either way it'll be a great expereince!
