Has it sunk in yet?

I know it sounds really weird, considering I was accepted last December, but it really hasn't sunk in that I'm going away for a year yet. I don't think that It will until I actually board the plane lol I had a little moment when I was stood around at work the other day (we do alot of that at gap) because I had handed my notice in and I was thinking about having to say goodbye to all my friends and co-workers, and starting over again in a new job in a completely different country and climate with people I've only talked to on the net. Kind of scary but its a challenge I'm looking forward to.

Can't wait till it actually sinks in though.

Just wanted to find out if anyone else still feels abit weird about it and not just me lol

 

Dont worry Todd you aint alone feeling like that. I handed my notice in today and all of a sudden got a wave of panic come over me that I am not going to be doing my usual job after this month.
Also got really emotional thinking about how awful it will be to say goodbye to my Mum and Dad. Just got to keep thinking about Disney ;D

 

I cant imagine saying bye to all my family in September, will be very emotional....but still cannnot wait for that day!

 

yeah! i know what u mean. I've just finished high school, and for as long as i can remember i've always wanted to escape from northumberland to the promised land, the land of hope and glory (to quote bruce springsteen) but recently i'm like WOW i'm actually doing it! my life is gonna change so much! and it is quite scary but VERY VERY VERY EXCITING. and i have to say, that for me leaving home for the first time, i couldn't get much more exciting than moving to WDW! I'm guessing everyones gonna feel nervous, but ahh the power of new found friendship is one of the best!

 

No doubt, it is probably the thing I'm most excited about. Getting to meet and make friends with loads of different people from around the world

 

I still can't believe it but it will be amazing! I handed my notice in on monday and i'm panicking now but I'm sure that will (hopefully) pass soon ;D

 

its really really not sunk in for me yet!!! ive not had to hand in notice or anything either which probably makes it worse!!

did get a bit of an "Omg im actually going" when i phoned up to book my visa appointment n they asked where i was off to n the woman got sooo excited when i told her!!

but still i think it wont sink in till im actually there!!

 

I think its going to be awesome to make so many new friends in our year out there....I just know what after such an amazing year I will not want to come home to England, I dont really have much to come back to lol!!!! American Dream-I want it to go on forever!

 

I leave on the 17th july, although i have mostly bought all the clothes and bits you need!! it still hasn't sunk in yet!

I think it will become more real when i have to say goodbye to friends, workmates and family!! i've given them all strict rules that they are not aloud to say the word goodbye but see you soon!! it has the disney effect.... sounds better!!

 

Don't reckon I'll feel it until I have to say goodbye to people... I think it'll feel a lot closer after graduation tomorrow. Still seems aaages away. Which isn't all bad because I still have much to do. I still have the feeling that something will happen and I wont get to go though :-\

Glad to see I'm not the only one lol. Today was one of those days for me where I just wanted to be in orlando and far far away from here. Still can't beleive how quickly everything is starting to happen and i havn't even got my visa interview information yet!

I'm also dreaming of living the american dream - but in the traditional british way (i.e. with lots of drinking lol) .

 

Hmm american dream has certainly made me want to be out of this life right now!! It won't involve any drinking for me though.....Im only 18!

 

same here! well i will be when i leave, but theres no way i'm waiting until im 21 just to escape to america because the law there says i can't drink.
Its great that everyone else on here wants to live teh american dream! whenever i go on about how desperate I am to get 2 america and get a really cool new life people just look bored or say stuff along the lines of 'why whats so special about america?' or just look like 'yeah right' haha well i did it. we did it! we're off to florida, THE SUNSHINE STATE to live the american dream!!!! at the happiest place on earth as well!

 

it has sunk in, just this weekend, and am gettin all anxious and emotional and worried and panicked!!!! but my sleep is coming back now thank god lol
but yeh, i'm nervous bout bein away for sooo long. but we should be ok, we'll hve fun, that's what it's all about. we wil come home changed pple nyway that's for sure
but yeh, even thinkin bout boarding that plane, eek, i'm gona feel as sick as nything!

 

as much as i cant wait to go! i had a little panic last night! was nearly phonin yummy jobs to say i wasnt going!! actually got terrified for no reason!!!
im fine today tho! dunno what was wrong lol!!

 

eek! i'm phonin yummy jobs just 2 see what address to put down for where we are stayin for the visa form thing lol

but yeh, see the last few days, eek! i'm prob gona phone up and say, no way, not a chance i'm goin lol

 

it hasn't for me yet but i only found out yesterday as i was having a phone interview for going out next year and michele asked if i had applied before and said i was on the waiting list and than she phoned me back to tell me there was a job and im leaving on Sept 11
