So Universal have eventually said the rumours are true and they're building the harry potter theme park... or part of theme park. It's unclear if it's going to be a 'land' in one of the existing parks (I'd go with islands of adventure based on it's style) or a park of it's own. Opening 2009. After a lot of us are done! What do people think of it? What rides would you design for harry potter?? I'd go with some sort of broomstick roller coaster ride and possibly a tour of hogwarts in a tame ride TTA style...
Quidditch motion simulator, or some kinda VR thing since we're heading that way (with Buzz, Spiderman, and the new Toys Story Mania).
Hmph, although I reluctantly think the park will be good, I hate the idea. I hate how they made the films before the books have even finished being written, and this is even worse! Its all turned into a commercial scam! I love the books, and the park will probably be brilliant, but its just taking it all away from the books. Will end up full of fat american tourists and thats just not what Harry Potters about!
I've read/heard that it's going to be a part of IOA, in the Lost Continent bit. With Hogsmeade, Hogswart's Castle and the forbidden forest- possibly incoporating dueling dragons as part of it?? Ooo found the link again: http://geeksofdoom.com/2007/05/31/harry-potter-a-go-at-universal-studios/
i would have thought a harry potter land would have been in the uk, but i think a chamber of secrets would be good, a area with animatronics mythical creatures like a hippogriff and unicorns. A dragon arena against a horntail maybe part of the lake being made into the mermaid and the boat from book 4. oooh wizard duels and broomstick flights
While it is frustrating that it's just another commercial thing - and the books are amazing as they are I think thankyouverymuch - I am still excited for it. Very reluctantly. Also, they have to finish it once I leave! Gr!
yeh thats my problem as well. They are aiming to complete it by 2009/2010 and therefore I won't be there either
As much as I don't like the whole thought of them only making the park as a way to get more money out of folk I'm still excited at the prospect of it! If you like the books surely you love the idea of being in Harry world for just a little while (even if it does cost loads!)...? I think the idea of a tour of Hogwarts sounds good as well as the broomstick roller coaster... Not sure what other rides could be put in though... I think the cool bits will be Diagon Alley and the school and stuff...
I watched the online vid where they discussed the park and its going to be like literally walking into the wizarding world.. With places like Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest actually being life size areas.. I definately think they'll be some form of Quidditch ride and depending on what goes into the next three films.. They'll be some dueling action and you'll be sorted into houses by the sorting hat... All us UK folk should be on the look out for jobs because if they want it to be as authentic as they have suggested then i think we could possibly be working at hogwarts come 2009
i saw a paper today with images of prospective ideas includdin hogsmede and hogwarts it looked impressive and is in Islands of adventure
I saw the pictures in the paper the other day as well - and the video on the site looks pretty good too I would DEFINATELY apply for this one!!!!!
Fantastic! Love the idea of possibly being able to work there! Also think they need to sell Butter beer - although what they would make it from exactly I don't know
