Happy New Year Everyone..... just comes I'm the 1st to post in the new year. I've sent my CV off to Yummy Jobs today and got an email back saying that they'll get back around to me around the 7th Jan. Do you think it's too late for the 2008 Prog.? Also, if it's not too late, do you get less choice on Roles, by now? Would love to hear from anyone who's yet to hear back from Yummy? Or just general "hellos" Thanks, Ian xx
hey! i dont think it is too late! They tend to have 2 lots of interviews for the summer ICP, one in October/november and one in March. You ont have long until your interview ;D
thanks, i'm so excited it's crazy! and all i've done is send my CV off..... i think i might wet myself if they actually let me go! what was working for operations like? did you get any choice in what ride were on? or even what park? ian xx
Since you've applied to yummy jobs I'm gonna assume you're from Britain. You only get to work for the country you represent. So you'll be working in the english pavillion at Epcot I'm crossing my fingers for you I'm waiting myself to hear when they have interviews for me to go to
I think Tink above is refering to the year long CRP in which you are limited to the UK pavillion in Epcot, on all the other programmes you can be placed anywhere that they have their role. You really don't get much choice regarding where you get placed though, it is completly random, and predetermined before you get there (except for lifeguard, which is decided depending on how well you do in the tests etc) I've heard of people putting in a request at their interview, buts its total luck of the draw whether thats where you end up. Good luck with your application! xx
i loved my role in operations! but i didn't work on a ride, i worked crowd control at MGM for the day parade, high school musical, beauty and the beast and Fantasmic! it was such a relaxed job i loved it! You don't get a choice of where you work, its a case of filling in positions where they need you.
Hello! I've applied for the Summer program. I got an email back from them yesterday saying they'd got my CV. I've got so many things I want to ask (even after reading 1000's of pages from this website!) - but I know I should wait until I've least had an interview! I just keep thinking how mad it would be to be spend all day in WDW.... surrounded by the MAGIC! I think if get to go I would want to work on something thats unique to Disney, so I'll probable aim for Operations. But, do you know what the bum jobs are that you can end up if you get attractions? Ian xx
I depends what your opinion of a bum job is! ;D i know most people would love to work at haunted mansion, but my friend hated it and found it so boring. most people think working on the tea cups would be the worst job, but i know someone who loved it! one of my friends was annoyed at first cos he got test track and wanted a proper coaster, but ended up loving working there. When i was in attractions i didn't work on a ride, i did crowd control and i loved doing it. i would personally find it so boring working on a ride!
lol thanks very much! i think they all sound fab. i can't imagine a worst job than custodial, but i know the people who do that have a fab time - i guess it's all what you make of it! ian xx
Really, every location has it's ups and downs.. I loved the bakery, but the hours were long.. and the Jungle was fantasic, but some days it got very repetitive... So long as you go not having any expectations, and are simply satisfied that you got a job in Disney in the first place! you should have a great time
yep that makes sense! i have a friend of a friend who spent 10 weeks working in a shop (sorry "merchandising"), and i can't imagine a worse job.... haven't worked in a shop for 3 years. all what you make of it! ian xx
yeh and even if you don't find the job very stimulating, as long as the folks you're working with are nice enough then i think you'll be ok. I sometimes wish CRP had more roles, I'd love to be a lifeguard at disney. although I don't think the UK pavillion has much cause for them! I'd love to be a monorail driver too though
hey i'm going for the Summer program, so i'll be pleased with anything they give me. got my fingers crossed for attractions! ian
Woo attractions! GO AD/LIB! Ahem..... sorry I'd just like to point out.... I'm a partner in excellence Not a real one of course... though I'd love to have the cool little pin on my nametag and the statue they get.
lol without sounding stupid what does "AD/LIB" mean? or will it make sence if i get there? oh also.... do people work at the waterparks if you're not a life guard? do they still have operations people? ian
lol, Ad/Lib is Adventureland/Liberty Square. Both lands have the same attractions managers, and many CM's are cross trained at attractions in both lands. We also do PAC together. Ad/Lib is known to have the best PAC in the MK I think that rumour was started by us though.
dont put on downer on custodial, just cause its dealing with rubbish, you have to be a fountain of disney knowledge or at least where the toilets are... and you get to know a wide variety of people i worked in animal kingdom so i got to meet people all over the park. You also have a lot more flexibility to your role, you can go for water any time, because your in the sun the whole day, i suppose wherever you work youll have an awesome time but a friend of mine moved to safaris and she missed custodial because she had less interaction with guests.. so custodial usually is alot of fun, plus you might be able to watch the parades everyday or fantasmic every night... its so cool
I know someone doing attractions who was on the gates/tickets of Blizzard. Also, if you do recreation you can be a 'slide operator' (ie tell people when to go down the slide) which seems like the biggest doss of a job in the world- apparently they loved it I loved working in a shop. OK, I complained a fair amount about it because the hours were some of the worst in Disney (6 day weeks as standard/12 hour days, you get the picture- go downtown disney ) but you get SO much customer interaction. They don't care how long you spend talking to a guest because that's the whole point of Disney so you get the chance for some really long, interesting conversations. Whereas with a ride you don't get that kind of time to speak to people, or so I'd assume, because they just want to get onto the attraction. That's probably another positive about downtown disney- people aren't rushing to get on the rides or whatever- infact, a lot want to just kill some time before a restaurant reservation or something- so they're more willing to take their time over purchases and talk to you, etc. Which also meant it was absolutely PACKED all the time. So there are plus and negatives to every job. Best day had to be when they stuck me outside the shop to try and attract guests in at night, so I was stood outside in as much glow stuff as possible waving a fairy wand chatting to guests. I love that I got paid to do that
