Hi! I live in St Johns Newfoundland , I am flying there on the 9th but the interview/ presentation is on the 10th... well thats what I have been told. I also have exams on the 10th and the 11th but I'm going to get them deferred for another date.
I applied for the International College Program, I wanted to work in merchandise because that mostly my dominant work experience, but my second choice would be food and bev... I'm actually kinda confused as to what I should pick because I've heard good and bad about both but ..thats like everything in life! So I guess I'll just go with what I originally picked. What about you??
Well I applied for the summer program but I don't really know what I want to do...I'm thinking merch as my first choice, and maybe lifeguard or operations...ah I don't know. haha.
Jobs really vary in operations..But if you get a good one your sorted..One of my mates got car park attendant and the other got to drive the safari trucks in animal kingdom..they were both operations but its just the luck of the draw really.. I wouldn't advise merchandise though..because apparently you get alot of chew from guests and if your in a resort and not in one of the parks apparently it can be really boring.. I would say the top 5 best jobs are: Character Lifeguard Character Attendant Operations Costuming - Although this is what i did..and there are two bad parts of it, Character room and main issue, luckily though i got put on spectromagic and disney dreams come true parade in magic kingdom and had an awesome summer..loved my job..
What did you have to do for costuming? I think I'd rather something with a bit more guest interaction. Actually, I'm not even sure costuming is offered for the summer? I haven't heard anyone talk about it, and it isn't listed on the site. Is it under something else? The site might just be missing it... I just realized it says that for the swim test for guarding you have to swim 200 yards or 183 km. haha. As for operations, I knew there were different areas you could be put in...I don't think I'd like working parking, but the rest I don't think I'd mind. I know there's no guarantee though, which is why I can't really decide what I'd like to do. Thanks!! Still no one else for Halifax? 31 days
I worked on the parades getting people dressed and stuff...it was really cool because there was only really one or two hours in your shift that are busy for the whole thing..the rest are pretty chilled out.. To be honest they never show costuming as a job..I don't even think its an option that you can tick at the interviews..because i certainly didn't put it down and then i just got offered the job in it..I think its one of them things where because there's such a little ammount of jobs available in it..There isn't really much point in having it as an option.. I did it on the summer program last year and there was probably only about 20 college program people in the whole of disney that did it..and i would say only about 5 maybes 6 people that were english.. To answer your question though..i think its most likely under the category of character or character attendant..
No worries..i was really gob smacked when i got offered the job for a start..and then i was like..costuming! I didn't even no you could do that! Its so laidback at times tho which is good..and you used to get free powerade while you were on shift!
