I know this probably seems like a hilarious and random topic but I wondered as Disney have a strict 'look code' and for guys it's having a short and neat hair style... is there a hairdressing service at Disney world? Coz I'm thinking if I have to keep my hair neat and short I'll have to get it cut every five weeks or so. Anyone know the deal? How strict is the code? Ben
Pretty Strict, although i didnt get my hair cut for 10 weeks, and i usually get it done like every 5 weeks, basically its gotta be pretty short and neat, and just not touching/covering the ears! There are hairdressing places within Magic Kingdom and Epcot for cast members (back stage), but of course there are hundreds around orlando anyway, even Walmart, although not always the best option....!
Yeah as far as i can remember it was about $14 for a hair cut i think, or was it $10, cant exactly remember but all i do remember is thinking it wasent too expensive!
dont get your hair cut backstage... it was a horrible experience!! There is the cu and colour room at cross roads which is about $10 more and it was a nice place and not nearly as scary as having your hair cut by the scary banana eating hairdresser at epcot! Also they are quite strict about hair cuts... but it toally depends on your managers really. one of my friends had a quiff which wasn't symetrical and was always told to go backstage and change it by his managers. Also a feew of my friends were told to go backstage to shave if they had stubble (they have vending machines backstage where u can get razors!) On both of my programs at disney i had bleached hair and only natual looking hair was accepted... but none of my managers either time metioned it to me at all
Razor vending machines lol. ;D I don't wanna have to shave everyday - my skins goes all red for like a whole day after I shave! Bryce
The woman who cut my hair backstage at MK was really good. She only worked there on certain days because the rest of the time she was a hairdresser for guests at the Grand Floridian!
I did wonder about the shaving too. I reckon I can grow stubble in half a day so I'll have to shave twice a day. Haha. I doubt I'm going to be at Epcot so the Magic Kingdom hairdresser is ok? Do you have a phobia of banana eaters mgm haha?
not a phobia of banana eaters... just a phobia of this banana eater! oh and i worked at mgm both my programs so you can go to epcot or mks haircutters!
no... dont ever wish that upon yourself! and he scared me... 1/because he looked scary, 2/because of the way he was cutting my hair, 3/because he was watching maury instead of watching where he was cutting, 4/because he was putting his banana hands all through my hair, 5/when he put gel on my hair he put enough gel in his hands to drown a child, 6/i feared for my life, 7/because he didn't speak good english, 8/come to think of it he reminded me of gepetto, 9/i think he was a sheep shearer in his previous job/life
one tip make sure u tell them exactly what u want!! haha ok so its different for guys but i asked for a trim and came out with 3 inches off my hair it sucked!! xx
you get a nice book on what you should be like before you go so that will give you some to laugh at, i got my hair cut at the kingdom cutters in magic and the woman was amazing she was so nice and she would do what ever you wanted so getting your hair cut isn't a problem, well in my eyes that is
i was highly stressed by the hair cutting experiences this summer I was too scared to go to kingdom cutters. So first time i went to salon salon - which was awful! Secod time i went to cut and color room which again was awful. Any third time i went back to cut and color room cause i fancied one of the stylists, and he cut my hair almost as good as my stylist back home. Except i gave him my mumber, he didnt call, and now i can never go back there! lol So if i end up doing another program next year Im totally back to square one.
On the "Keys to the Kingdom Tour" (ive been twice its brill ) the tour guides take you down the MK utilidor, where they talk to you about the "Disney Look". Showed us some examples of good/bad hair, moustaches beards side burns etc. Very strict lol! I dont think my friend Tom with his hair two inches from the floor would be able to work for Disney ;D
The look thing is meant to apply across the whole of the Walt Disney Company altho they don't seem so strict on it at Disney Store... yet they will send you home if you're uniform is creased up haha. I don't get the hair thing tho. There are some 'looks' in the book which are not allowed yet they look tidy. The ironic thing is one of the hairstyles not allowed is pretty much identical to that of Troy in High School Musical... haha. Ben
Prepare to get your head raped. I went to the onstage MK haircutters, thinking they wouldn't do anything stupid. But oh no, cut ALL my hair off I looked like a criminal, it took 3 months to grow back. This was onstage in a guest hairdressers and I asked for a quick trim. If they won't listen to you as a guest you have sod all chance as a cast member. I'm not cutting my hair again. 6 months to go.
