right girlies i need to talk about hair straighteners!!!!!
ok my hair is very curly but i straighten it i share a pair with my sister and im not allowed to take them away with me so yesterday i went to buy i new one and i ask the girl in boots which would be best u know what with the humidity and she said that it better to but some out there but i said i would be taking an adapter and she said its still better to but out there cuz apparently the adapter takes all the power from the straighteners

i know prob all of u have got ur own put just thought i see what everyone thinks

    love ya

yeah she's right the adapter does take he power as the voltage is different. but if u have good ceramic 6 second heat up ones from here, they should still b ok, they just dont get as hot and take longer to warm up.

i need new straighteners and dont know wot 2 do, cos i cant go without a straightener 2 florida.... that would b just terrible lol

I think I'm going to get some out there, mine'll need replacing by then anyway, and I can tell I'm going to be just as disorganised there, so will need some that heat up fast! I'm hoping I can either put my hair all up, or borrow some in the mornings til I get some from Wal-mart or something (hello Ellen and Sara :-*) Hehe!

my hairs straight so i rarely use hair straighteners except occasionally when i knick my friends when going on night out....
when i was on exchange my friends took their ghds with them.. and they worked fine just took a lot longer to heat up...

    Hey girls,

I'm in the US at the moment and i brought my GHD's from home but found they took a while to heat up and did not have as much power. Its seriously better to get a pair over here they have loads in walmart to choose from and they are pretty good!

Don't worry about bringing them with you!! Use that space in your suitcase for something else. They are cheap to buy at Wal-mart...your roomie might have ones you can borrow...or...almost all of the UK throw-outs I went to, the girls were throwing out a pair because they couldn't be bothered to take them home. My roommate had at least two if not three sets at once time. Same for hair dryers. All cheap cheap.

helen did you have the blue futura hair straighteners by any chance? me and three of my friends all bought them from a haridresser supply store and all four pairs, the spring broke in the handle!grrrr

i honestly dunno what im gonna do! my ghds work enough to straighten my hair out there but the humidity makes it go poof as soon as i leave the room. so may teake em but buy more as soon as pos, and some good dehumidifier for hair, as the ones from here are s***!

The humidity can play havoc with your hair I'm afraid girls! I don't have particularly curly hair just a little wavy but I spent a lot my year out there trying to get it straight!!! I wouldn't bother about trying to take straighteners or a hairdryer with you, they are really cheap to buy in Wal-Mart. That's what I did and I still use them even to go on holiday to the States these days. Tell a lie, I think I bought a new hairdryer when I went to work on the ship!
I was actually quite grateful when I went to freezing cold Chicago in December when I was at Disney as it was nice not to have to put up with the humidity and kinky hair for a whole weekend!!!!

    Have fun!!!
