Here's a chance to change the stereotype of what people think Haggis is. What do use think Haggis is? if you are Scottish then try and not answer! I wanted to see what people actually thought it was because i could not believe some of the things people said they though it was in a survey.
:-X i'm from scotland but i'm answering anyway. my uncle once told me Haggis was a hairy four legged animal that lives on the mountains and everyone goes out with a net the day before Burns Night to get one. and I totally bought it.
I've been told it was a sheeps stomach stuff with...other bits of the sheep and then boiled for aaages.
Yeah, I heard the sheeps stomach. I can't remember what's in it, but I think I blocked it out. I am going to tell my mum the uncle version
heres another regional dish, its tradition for many people in yorkshire to eat parkin on and around bonfire night but what is it
there's different recipies i think but it's commonly sheeps heart, liver and lungs minced with onion, oatmeal, spices, and salt, mixed with stock and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for a few hrs...never had it and never will! lol has anyone ever had it?
When I was in Edinbrough (sp?) I got given a taster on a cracker. It was ok I guess... More salt... and Only in small portions lol. Speaking of regional dishes... For Teesside it HAS to be the parmo!!! *drools*
well done Disney Princess, you tell it better than a Scottish person would. Yes, i have tried it and i love it. I do not care what is in it, it is delicious.
why thank you lol. my mum's from the UK so I've always known what it is ;D hmmm I MAY give it a try one day. you can't judge a book by it's cover right?
i would probably try it if someone didnt tell me what it was before hand. thats how my parents have got me to each food over the years.
You certainly cannot judge a book by its cover, but it looks nicely presented when you get it in a restaurant, and dont bother with whats in it, it is a very nice cuisine. I like having chicken stuffed with haggic with a whickey sauce, it is delicious, i recommend that dish if you are going to a british restuarant. Do they sell it at the UK pavillion?
i love trying new traditional foods. i've eaten everything from chicket feet to pigs skin, even cow tendon and geese intestine. i'll definatly be eating around the world. mainly in Italy, i loooove italian.
I was in Italy this year, the food is not that good. And it was traditional Italian food. They do make an amazing pasta though.
I found Alfredo's wasn't the best place...though the lasagne was awesome. But then it isn't Alfredo's anymore so who knows! I love eating in Canada...cheddar cheese soup! And the UK of course...need some proper food after all that american stuff.
Oh, use are talking about the pavillions, i was in actual Italy this year. I have never had anything to eat in any of the pavillions.
mmmm and mexican. i think i'll need to do a few runs around the world to work all this food off. i love pasta...and cheese. i must try cheese soup. i'm now getting hungry. we need to somehow get italy and the uk together and introduce the ultimate student meal, tuna mayo pasta and sweetcorn!
