Hi guys, I would like to know if anyone in here work in this area on the ship? anyone going to the Interview in London applied for guest services 2?? Patricia told me that if you speak 2 languages u chances are higher to be hired in this area ( Guest Services)..does anyone know why?? Renato : :
Hey Renato, it's always good to speak a second language. I regret that I never took a spanish course in school. It's unbelievable how many spanish or portugies speaking guest are on the cruise. In August/September you will have tons of guests from Mexico, November/December many guests from Brazil. Believe it or not but many international guests do not speak english, or if they do they do not feel comfortable speaking it. The first place to get informations or to complain about something is Guest Services. So, if you have a guest who doesn't speak english but you might speak his language it's a plus for you and the guest feels much better. But as much as I remember did we have a few australians in Guest Services who didn't speak second language. Just try to be as positive as possible, always smile and go to the interview in "Disney Look". It's better to show up in a suit with tie as in jeans with t-shirt. That's so undisney and the recruiter won't be happy at all. Dani
I would say it probably would be a good idea to be able to speak a second language in Guest Services especially Spanish. But in saying that one of my friends from Epcot did Guest Services on the Magic and couldn't speak a second language. I even found working in the stores that a second language would have been an advantage but then again there was usually someone else there that could speak the language you needed We had a pretty good group when I was there, many different nationalities even Chinese and Japanese. You do get quite a few Japanese guests onboard but I would say that apart from English speaking guests, the next would be Spanish speaking ones. Laura.
