Well Im not going to go into too much detail out of respect for my friend, because its not my place to spread around hsi business, But the short version is he was caught by a manager out of his flat on a day when he phoned in sick- and even though hundreds of people have done it before and he was genuinely sick he was suspended for 7 days and then termianted. It in no way was behaviour that deserved a termination- it was just an excuse to get rid of staff because they are over staffed at the moment. Its a complete disgrace and Im quickly losing faith in this 'experience' :'(

I totally understand you Gem, I got a written warning the other day... for TALKING with other cast members LMAO!!! Seriously, the place was empty and they even called the union, because I was talking... I don't want to talk to much about it... but it's but f*cking stupid when the place is alone and you are not allowed to talk between each other.

It does suck when someone is terminated, one of my best friends was term'd while i was there. But they are usually (not always) for good reason. And i am sorry to say that in this case it sounds like a good reason. the guy although you say sick, must have been able bodied enough to make it out into resort to be caught, meaning that he wasnt really sick enough to call in, he could have attended work and if he had got worse throughout the day been sent home. for that reason i cant see that the manager had any other option, i would have done the same in his / her shoes.
and although loads of people call in all the time, this doesnt make it right. you are doing wrong and as a result need to accept it if caught. weigh up the punishment to the crime as it were.

again i am sorry about your friend, but life has rules to keep order
