Right so at the very last minute I decided to change from my CRP interview to a Graduate one as it was better for me right now.
I was just wondering if anyone had a list of roles available?
Am I right in thinking Entertainment is not one of the options as this is what I really want to do?

The role list for the graduate program varies depending on where they need people.
The roles avaible for the July 2008 intake was quite limited, for instance lifeguarding, attendant, full service and a few others were not $an option, but character performer was.

    Hey

My interview was on the 10th
I only chose 3 cause i never wanted to give them the oppertunity to put me in one of my last choices.
    What did u choose?
    Think I got entertainment though

That's what I originally done, was pick my top three but the guy said I had to pick another two. :( Now I'm sort of worried that I may get one of my bottom two.
    Here's what I picked:
    1 - Attractions
    2 - Merchandising
    3 - Main Entrance Operations
    4 - Character Attendant
5 - Costuming - Backstage Roll :'( - knowing my luck this will be the one I get

Oh well, it's only been 4 Day since the interview and the wait is killing me, I keep checking my e-mail every hour.

The only entertainment role available is 'Character Performer' and whether you can apply depends on if they have that kind of role to allocate. If you are successful you are still quite limited in what you can do because the parades and show require you to join equity and then you go through another audition process. They do not allow anyone on college programme to do this though so 'Character Performer' is the only role you can do on the visa.

However, I know that it is a fact that the resort is very short on face characters. I know of people who were asked to try out for multiple characters for that reason. So for example, a Minnie Mouse that fits the requirements might be asked to try out for Snow White. Or some of the taller males that fit the other requirements might be asked to try out for one of the princes.

Unfortunately, character performer is a very popular role. I have a few friends who passed the audition but then couldn't be a character because everything in their height range was full up. I also know of people who failed the audition and then got put in a different role. If you get accepted for the role there is a video about the audition on the college programme website... definitely worth studying if it's what you really want to do! Goodluck!!

I am a student member of equity, does that count? or does it have to be a full membership to equity? so with teh character performer, you can do it on the college programme and if you have equity membership it is a bonus?

I'm not completely sure about that with equity. I think you have to be a US member. To work as a performer in the US if you are not a resident... you need an entirely other kind of visa so it might not be sufficient.

The visa you get for the college programme only allows you to do character performer. But like I said... it's a role that isn't always available. When I applied for my programme I tried to do it but they wouldn't let me because they had no roles to allocate.

The entertainment roles where you need to be a member of equity (parade... shows etc) are a completely separate thing and wouldn't be considered an 'internship' so I think it's highly unlikely you'd be able to do them on a college program. Guess your association with equity won't do you any harm tho.

I'm currently working in day parade costuming at the magic kingdom and none of the performers are equity! They are all fur characters and some of them are cp's. The only ppl who may be equity are the princesses etc

Ah yeah I should've said I was referring to face characters. They are kind of a special case coz it's a higher rate of pay and because you actually interact with guests you're considered an actor (and it's not everyone that can do it). I just had a friend who was asked to try out for some of the face characters (they have been really low on them for the past few years... not quite sure why). He got some. And then I wondered why he didn't do some of the parades and shows (coz he was ace at them). He'd inquired but they told him he would have to join equity and do a separate audition to be able to do them.

I've no idea how the characters in *suits* work to be honest... but if you say there are people doing it you obviously can! There are also sometimes different rules for Americans.

Disney have to be registered to give out the visas they give to us and they must provide very specific details as to what roles they might allocate us. They must also justify giving us jobs over americans which often limits us from Americans unfortunately.

Hi Stephy! Welcome back! Sucks huh? I think what everyone is wondering if you can do the parades as a character performer on the college program? There seem to be mixed opinions. My friend was friends with Jack Sparrow. There is a show they do outside Pirates of the Caribbean and he was told he had to audition again and join equity to be able to do it. He was other face characters too and he was told the same about being in parades.

hey ive got an interview on tuesday and im trying to decide on what roles to list. can i just ask what is the diff between a character performer and a character attendant? also what sort of things is recreation? i really wana work in a park rather than a hotel or whatever. ..from looking at alot of the posts ther doesnt seem to be alot said about working anywhere else other than the parks, has any1 any experienceor heard anything about the other jobs?

Character performer is actually being a character

Character attendant is one of the people that stands with them and controls the line of people... take pictures for guests if need be... and takes the character in when their time is up.

Recreation... that's like in a water park where you stand at the slides and make sure people go down safely and people don't go too close together... that kind of thing.

If there's a park in particular you want to work tell them at the interview!
