I dunno if I can afford flights from scotland and accommodation for the interviews...eeek, even easyjet is really pricey!
Hello Nat, i'm often told off for being obssesive about travel planning etc so here is what i;ve found for you! Leaving Glasgow at 12.47 on monday 28th feb, arriving kings cross at 5.28pm, no changes Leaing London at 17.48n on tuesday 1st mar, arriving Glasgow at 23.20, 1 change. Price including Young persons railcard is £38.95 Then a stay at the lovely named beaver hotel, 2 tube stops from hammersmith is £25 per night, single, non-ensuite or £50 with ensuite, both include breakfast. Websites: www.activehotels.com www.virgintrainsfares.co.uk. You can tell i am bored, huh? Dan p.s. for some reason going from edinburgh is more costly-if you can knock off interviews early, you can get a £44 return (With railcard), leaving london at 2 oclock.
I can imagine how frustrating it is Natz! I'm going from Leeds but i couldn't get a cheaper saver return on the trains because you have to state which train you're getting back and obviously we don't know til the day so me and my mum have had to get business return which leaves it open - £128 for both! v expensive. Not sure why it's so much but there was no other option really cos flying was more and also a time for coming back so would've had to pay for another night for hotel. Oh well it just had to be done! I can't wait for the interview day! I'm so excited!!
Hey Nat: If you are REALLY desperate you can take an overnight bus from Edinburgh to London! It leaves St. Andrews Sq bus station at 9:30PM and gets into London at 7:00AM the following morning at the Victoria Bus Station. (Although both times I have taken it we arrived at 6:30AM.) The bus then leaves in the evening at 10:00PM giving you loooooads of time for your interview! You should get back into Edinburgh around 7:15AM the following morning depending on traffic. If you have a student card, you won't pay more than £30 and it's cheaper during the weekdays. I know an overnight bus isn't ideal, but you wouldn't have to drop any cash on accommodations and you can pay for showers at the Victoria Tube station right next door. You can actually get a semi-decent sleep on the bus provided you have your own set of seats to yourself. The provider is Silver Choice Travel, I believe. Adios, Jen
Hey www.ryanair.com might be worth a look, I think u might be a bit late to book now but have a look u never know. Ryanair is very cheap. The "airport tax" bumps the price up but its still one of the cheapest companies to fly with. You will just have to catch the train into London though as they only fly to London Standsted from Glasgow. ~Badger~
Im from Kent and had to go to Glasgow for my interview! It was originally scheduled for London on the 12th of Nov but I was in Orlando on holiday! I went with easyjet and it wasnt too expensive. There are so many hidden costs when you get the job, be warned! Kevin
Hey Kevin, What sort of hidden costs? are we talking a small or large amount? Im trying to work out what to put as my earliest start date, If I got through I need to sell my car coz I won't b able to keep up the payments while away and just need a few more paydays to save up : Helen x
