    Hey.
Does anybody know when we'll get our first pay? Just trying to figure out how much money I need to tide me over till it. Will it be a monthly thing?
    Thanks, Maxi

You get paid every thursday..hence why thursday is the big night out!

You don't get paid for the first 2 weeks tho and your first pay check is really small when you get it, as its only the money you earned from working traditions...

You set up a bank account at the presentation on the second day i think it is...so your money just goes straight into that if you decide to set it up..

Its alot more worthwhile..its safer and saves you having to travel to your location to pick your paycheck up everyweek..

Yeah..i took $800 tho and spent it..i would say you won't get away with $300 to be honest..i spent $120 on the first shoppin trip to walmart..i would say quite a few people spent more than me as well!

How come you only get paid for traditions the 1st time? What about all the work you've do after that? About how much did you earn every week? I'm soo bad at budgeting myself to stuff!!

Basically by the time your first pay check is due..you have only worked traditions..you spend about 2 weeks filling forms in etc..so you basically get i would say the first about 10 days not doing work..

But your still filling forms and stuff in..so these days aren't free to do what you want sort of thing..

do you still get enough time to fit parks and stuff around all the paper work then if it lasts for about 10 days!? i cant imagine how they could possibly fill 10 days with nothing but paper work!!

You'd be so suprised..you go to the social security place and your that basically takes a day..One day you go 2 walmart..Another day you do traditions..Another day you go for a tour around the park your going to be working in..Then you just fill in forms for the rest of the days..If i remember rightly u get about 3 days off in the first 2 weeks as well!

It didnt take anywhere near 10 days for me!! i was working within a week of getting there!

The 2 days directly following the day i got there was paperwork/social secuirty. then my 3rd day was traditions, then day off for the parks, 5th day merchantainment, then by the 6th or 7th day i was having on the job training in my area. and we are paid for everything from the start of traditions. So it might be about 10 days till my first pay check, but it was only about 3 days till i actually started earning.

I didn't have traditions until the 5th day i was there..It might have been though because we didn't get to florida until around 8 at night the first day..so that night was just spent unpacking etc..

For some reason as well, we seemed to have quite a few days off..i remember on the 4th day we were there, we had a full day off and we just went 2 universal studio's..

if new people have to go and spend the day at the social security office what happens if you already have a social security number? is that time given to you to chill or do they make you do work? cheers Sean

Because we're going out for a longer period of time, is there still restrictions on how much actual cash you can take in with you? Do they even really check? Only I want to start getting some dollars now (apparently the exchange rate's going to go down soon... God knows how my Dad can predict such things but still...) but obviously I don't want to get more than I'm actually allowed!!

you can take as much cash in as you want as far as i know, obviously it would look a bit dodgy if you took over a suitcase full of money but there not going to care about a couple of grand. cant think of any other way you would take your money over with you anyway........

Well so far as I know you technically get the best exchange rate on accessing your British bank account from a cashpoint over there (or you should do anyway... not sure if some banks still charge for accessing them abroad??), but a) the exchange rate could've dropped by then and b) if I have the money in dollars already then I can't spend it before I get out there!!

Good to know about the no limit thing though, ta :D

yea i have a social security number already too from last years icp. i really hope i dont have to go as that day was so boring!

In the Disney pack it says that we should bring the social security card and number with us to orlando, so hopefully if we show them we have one we wont have to go!

as usual though, it's better not to take wads of cash no matter what. you can get a great am ex card which works like a cross between traveller's cheques and a visa card. in other words, all the money is on the card and it just goes down until it's gone or topped up and it'll be accepted anywhere traveller's cheques are (and it's great for bigger things like park entrance)

the minimum amount i think is 500 dollars though but i think most of us ar taking at least that amount.

again though, cash is a bad idea. if it goes missing or stolen you are screwed royally.
