Two question here can you apply for a job at disney after the program is over and i also heard some ips got placed in the treehouses is this ture
Tree House Villas are a former Disney Resort turned into Overflow housing for people on International/college programs. You will only be put in there if you work the MK. It is also quite a distance from the other 3 housing areas (as it's actually on Disney property while the others are a 5 min drive max), and is close to Downtown Disney. It also has it's own bus system but one bus (the W bus or Tree House Wal Mart Bus (the other 3 complexes use the H bus for Wal Mart thus the W isn't on their bus schedules) stops at Chatham once an hour). Last year around this time I heard a lot of complaining about them (before people got there) but after people seemed to like them. One roumer I heard that I believe was debunked was they don't have high speed internet (but like I said I think that was reciently put in).
Yep ICP's from england, brazil and mexico were put in treehouses - like me! its kinda cool and pretty exclusive but a pain in the ass when it comes to security and getting around and we didnt have high speed internet but they were 'working on it' theyre fine if ure there for a couple months but after that u wud wanna be somewhere else!
Aherm... u forgot about the scottish people and they do have high speed internet now, it got put in during October
and the Welsh we were there too! Apparently they wanted to put a clubhouse and gym in at some point just rumours i heard.
I was ICP last summer and Im going to do the year long Cultural Rep programme in September. You could also apply to do May-Nov. Can't remember what thats called
I think Tiny means if you can apply for a permenant role/position after you have completed the program. As far as I'm aware, from the UK, you can't. I'd love to be proved wrong though.
That is indeed what I meant My application for my 2nd program is already underway Does anyone else think October seems forever away at the moment?
From what I hear it is really hard for people from the Uk to get a visa which would allow them to work there permenantly. Anyone know otherwise, please let me know! Id love to stay at Disney forever.
My granddad is a naturalised American citizen and my sister is married to an American, which I suppose would make it easier. But then I wouldn't want an American passport, if there's one thing that the ICP taught me it's that I'm proud of being British
SORRY! i forgot about scottish and welsh - what i mean is UK ppl and yep the only way to get a perm job is to have a visa! for which u have to have american family(lucky me) or marry an american - i know it sucks !
you can get a visa if america will have you, but i'm not sure about whether for some you have to have a work placement and a new boss to vouch for you in advance or whether you can get a visa, then go over and find work. It depends how mean immigration is being. So I'm not so sure disney would do it that way, but hey, maybe there is way. I'm hoping to try it anyway, whether or not I try to continue working for disney is another matter as I'd like to get on with my planned career, I'm just hoping that spending another year over there working this time for disney instead of being at uni, will help me later on trying to get in!
I'm afraid Disney won't do anything to help you get a permanent visa. They are a company who has no problem getting employees - through temporary programs and the americans that work there permanently. When i did the IP in 2003 - 2004 i spoke with the head of the international programs dept. She got me meetings with people who worked in Marketing and advertising, as i wanted to know what all they did, as i would love to work in that field at disney. They all told me that unless you have a permanent visa already they will not employ you for a permanent position or help you get one. Perhaps finding a company in a different state, you might have better luck. But unless you are way over qualified than any american for a particular position, you still wont get you visa. Sorry
