Hello Again Just read a post that answered my last question, and it seems that I wouldn't be too old at around 24, so that all good What do people get up to in their free time while there? Is the fun beer focused like here in the UK or what? p.s. I'm quite a fan of the beer or rum at least and was hoping that other people would be on the same kind of wave length Cheers JCB
there seems to be all sorts of different folks...from those who are constantly hungover to those who are completely sober!!! i doubt it will take long to find folk to hang with!
if you wanna drink or have a party every night i'm sure you'll have no prob finding people, especially among the uk, canadians, norwegians and germans...
but in disney work will be a party....(i am deluding myself that i waill actually cut down on my alcohol cunsumption aren't i)
I like a good party from time to time, but I don't drink at all. I'll be looking forward to doing a lot of different activities, from exploring the parks, to surfing, to golfing to just hangin out. Lot's to do!
golfing eh? well you know what they say about golf....a good walk spoiled....just kidding i grew up near St. Andrews , but it just never appealed. i just wanna get as much out of Disney as i can...don't want any pescy hangovers getting in the way of going on ToT !! or anything !!
yeah, I've never actually gone golfing, aside from mini golf and the driving range, but I figured it would be fun and a good thing to learn especially since I'm in business. I definitely agree though, gonna have the best Disney experience ever!
ya you will and the golf down there wow ....makes the golf up here in canada look like crap...its sooooooooooooo nice .....
That's cool to hear... So who's up for making a fool of themselves going golfing for the first time?? ;D
haha i've golfed before and yet still would make a fool out of myself ... haha i like to sport just not any good at it haha
Hahaha, sorry to tell you this but you really don't have very much free time. Specially the first few weeks while your here. Also depending on your role you will be working 6 to 7 days a week. Most likely 8 hour shifts or more. They can also extend you so you can work more the 10 hours a day. Also extra magic hours can cause you to work till 4 in the morning. Especially if your working in MK (merchandise) because the shops stay open an extra hour after closing. So on your free time you will be sleeping, doing laundry and hitting up walmart because you will get tired of the food that comes with 3 easy instructions on the back of the box. Don't get me wrong I love it here. But do not come here thinking your going to have a great ass vacation. Bye all. Enjoy, Jenna & Ellisa
Hello all!! Jenna and Ellisa, it sounds like maybe you're in the College Program. In the International Program, we generally didn't (and still don't) do Extra Magic Hours. And if you do, you generally don't work past 11:00p.m. or mid-night. So it's actually not that bad. Plus EMH only happens once a week. When I worked at the Canadian Pavilion, I first started out working 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) and always had Saturday and Sunday off guaranteed. Then we had a line pick and I only worked Monday to Thursday with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off guaranteed. Now those four days were 10-12 hour work days, but I loved it, and wouldn't have changed it for the world. I was also in Merchandise AND Attractions, so it's a bit different than Food and Bev. I think F&B doesn't necessarily always get the same days off, and the number is lower too if I'm not mistaken. So I think it all depends on what program you're in, and what area you're also working in. I loved my work, and I loved my time off, and I would go back in a heart beat!! Jacqueline
Im just so excited to be given the chance to go over there I work 9 and a half hours at my current job in what can only be described as a greenhouse : (its actually a visitor centre made of glass) so I dont really mind if we dont get alot of time off ;D Ashley x
Your visa only allows you to work at the canadian pavilion, and I am an ICP because I am Canadian, which means im international. My roommate works EMH all the time. But she does work at the biggest shop in MK. My roommate right now just walked in from an 11 hour shift. Pavillion ppl are completely different then waht we do.
lol can i just say one thing, My year a disney, Ruined my Liver!! But the memmories i will keep forever!
OK definately you are not too old! I was 23 when I went over there and yes I was one of the oldest but there were lots of us around the same age. As most people have said there is always a party to go to. You spend alot of time drinking so be prepared (I have to say I miss being able to come home from work at around 11pm and then find a party!) There's other stuff too mind like the cinema (midnight showings on a Friday after work)! Meals (at midnight after work - half joking on this one)! Parties! More food! Park (though usually you get sick of them when you're working in them)! Universal (competition but who cares) Shopping! OK that's about it I think oh and parties!
