This is going to sound daft but when u are working in disney do you have to pay for lunch or are u given it lol just a random thought I had
I hope they have a nice selection of food... as much as I love burgers, I don't want to be eating them every day for a year!
lol ermmmm... there is a food vending machine in the break room backstage at the UK pavillion, you can get crisps, chocolate etc there and some bizzare microwave pizzas and stuff (yuk!) you used to be allowed to buy fish and chips in the chippy and take those backstage to eat but not sure if they still allow that now? there is a canteen and break area called odyssey but its a bit of a trek from the UK pavillion so by the time you have walked there, got in line to buy lunch and then found a table to eat it your break is pretty much over! i used to just take in a sandwich or something, gets a bit expensive eating out at work 5 days a week!!!
Many thanks for that info "lemondrop105" (sorry I don't know your name!), that's really helpful. I will take a packed lunch then. I hope we're still allowed chips! Can just imagine the torture of smelling them and not being allowed to have them lol.
trust me after working in a chippy thwe smell fo chips will not be mouth watering to you !!! lol theresa subways in odessy too - i used to sometimes buy a sub and have it for lunch - also you used to get free drinks from the chippy - not sure if you still do - just vending drinks or tea/coffee type things not bottled water or anything you will have a locker so you can store ya stuff in there or in the break room there was a fridge if i remenmber correctly where you could leave stuff and like a water cooler where you could get water - merchies lockers are int he break area - fnb lockers are upstairs in the rose and crown. you also get given a locker back at cast services opposite costuming which is big enough to leave soem stuff in but wouldnt recommend leaving lunch there as thats more for spare costumes/clothes
You do still get free drinks and there is a fridge, but we have to share it with all the custodials lol. In the merch breakroom theres the water cooler with hot and cold and a microwave. You can only get chippy chips with permission from a manager and to be fair, they'll normally only let you if you're on a really long shift or have extended to help them out. If you're in F&B I'd say you'll start out taking packed lunches, just because it's cheaper and less hassle. Once you're in service you'll buy food from the restaurant (wangle the kids menu to get max food for min price ) mostly because it seems like waaaaay too much effort to walk all the way across the road lol, so we just sit upstairs to eat. I'm a firm believer that we should have a vending machine upstairs at the R&C...alas we don't lol.
I miss Shoddesy pizza. That stuff was awesome. Oh and their breakfast egg/bacon/cheese muffins.. I used to have two of those before work, lol!
Panaera bread (around the corner from the commons) does vegan food,salads etc. Im not sure, im sure theres others
Sweet Tomatoes! Its at crossroads, across the I4 from the commons, you can get to it on the 'F' bus (downtown disney bus) but its around a 30 min journey. They have the longest salad bar i have ever seen, plus home made soups and breads, plus desserts, baked potatoes, and they tend to have a food 'theme' every month. Best part is its all you can eat AND you get cast member discount! Ohhh i miss that place!
mmmmm.....sweet tomatos strawberry lemonade... Can't speak for deff on Germany, but it's run by Disney, so I wouldn't expect to get anything for free haha. I'm guessing they go to the magical caffeteria behind America (I say magical as it was a bit of a myth to us on the other side of the lagoon lol).
I went in there once as we had to use the TCR there, its small with a very limited food offering, i would not recommend plus they look at you funny because you're not from 'that' part of world showcase......
