Hey all, for everyone heading out soonish, what are you doing for flights? As I have no desire to do the 25 hour flights STA quoted, a Thomson return for about 450 seems to be the cheapest way to do it from London (even though I wouldn't use the return - they don't do one ways), but am also confused about whether how we get to Orlando relates to the money we'll get for our return flight from Disney. Was wondering what other people are doing, if anyone else was flying out from London and has got better deals etc.
Hey Jon! I'm not too sure what I'm doing yet! I got a quote from STA but they didn't state if it was direct or had changes! From what most ppl on here have said I'm guessing it has 1 if not more changes! Other than that, I think I'm gonna ask my cousin who works for virgin if she can get me a friends and family discount, see how much the flights are coming out at then ooo btw, not sure if I have you on facebook. You mind if I add you at all if you have it? If so, how do I find you? Lol
Hey guys. I'm not flying out from London, but I think I'm going for the "disneyway" (Disney orders the tickets for me) The reason why is that you meet other people from all over the world also attending this program, on the last transit airport before Orlando MCO and you are also flying out with people from your country. I think that is the best way to start the experience. Anyway, have a nice flight
I went through STA and paid £325 for a direct flight with BA from Gatwick to Orlando. They didn't offer me any other flights with or without connections. Ring the Oxford Branch and ask for Rachel Moutter!
I'm flying out on the 3rd December as I start on the 7th. I booked my flight end of May. If you book it a good few months in advance it shouldn't be too expensive. It was a one way fare too!
Flying on the 4th December I hope Sabrina!!! I booked mine (the same flight) in August and it was £364, I decided to do one way as I want the option of the travel at the end and kind of playing it by ear, but I'm lucky that I have enough funds saved at home to allow me to book a flight late next year once I know what I want to do! I booked mine on the STA website, just went for the cheapest direct flight - I'd be terrible with connections!!
Same as the girls, try and avoid connecting flights, i found there was only £20 difference between the cheapest direct flight and the cheapest connecting flight. That was with STA as well, I even managed to change my flight for just £35. Book as early as possible as the prices will rise and rise. ;D xxx
Haha! Type-o yeh I am flying on the 4th with Kaz! Prices did not rise too much between the time I booked my flight then Kaz and Anna booked theres. May be a bit more expensive those flying next year due to the looming VAT increase! Book now while its still cheap!!
Oooooo your on the same flight, but all booked at diff times? Did they seat you all together? Or do you not know? I just wondered about booking separately and not getting seated together! Lol
Yeah, we just made sure that once one of us had booked we tried to book onto the same flight - there are also 3 people going from Manc who get in a similar time! We opted to pay the £20 each to get seats... we could have waited until the online check in opened, but I get really bad problems with my sinuses and ears on planes so have to be seated infront of the wing ((I'm just being differcult really!!)) but for £20 it wasn't bad x
If one of you books the flight, then lets the others know they can tell STA and put you on the same flight together!
i rang up yesterday and got quoted £261 for a single, direct flight from london gatwick, with virgin on the 1st feb, leaving at 1pm and landing in usa at 5.25pm! flipping decent...ask for jill...she was awesome!
i just looked online and the flight I was going to book through BA is £743 for a single from GW was £343 through STA...nice little £400 saving there
i would never go with disney - seriously ever - apart form the fact that you have to pay them back for it and it comes out of ya payslip for months you dnt get there til stupid o'clock - i know someone who didnt get there til after 1am - nightmare much better getting direct flight - getting there a decent time - u have to be at a meeting at 8am the next day
just on that point there are many posts on here talking about the money you get back at the end of the prog and if you book a return flight going you only get half the money you paid back so if a return was 340 youd only get 170 back and so would no doubt need to put some money to your return flight.
one other thing to mention is ou can also claim the money backf ro your travel to the airport so if your going from london and have to train /bus it keep ya ticket cos that gets added on also when you arrive i think the second day u give them all the receipts fo everything you have paid for travelwise they then add it up in £ and using the converson rate of the day they convert it to $ and you then sign for that amount so even if the $ ges back up to $2:£1 if it was only $1.25:£1 on day they do that form then thats what ya getting so basically you should know from the day you start exactly how much $ you will get back at the end - make a note of it then when enar the end of the contract u start making final trip /travel home plans u knw how much you will have also the final amount is given to you (or it was) as a cheque - so you need to cash it so unless you keep your account open and pay it into that then you will be charged - we ended cashing ours at amscot cos we literally got it the day we were leaving and wanted the cash in hand for our final trip
Hello! Ok, so this is going to sound really stupid, but I have got SO confused with this whole flight reimbursement thing - can someone please literally spell it out for me please? I'm having a super dumb day. The jist I'm getting is this: I pay for my flight to Orlando. When I get there I give them a proof of payment. At the end of the year, they give me this amount back so I can use it to pay for my flight home?? Is this correct? Or do I get another payment to cover the flight home? Sorry - I just can't get info into my head atm - sorry if I've just annoyed anyone here with my stupidity! Lol. I know my post was pretty dumb! :S
i don't know how it is for UK people (though i'm guessing the same as canadians since the email came from yummyjobs) but apparently they're just giving out a flat rate of $400 once you've completed your contract.
I have just given in my flight and coach details to Disney and I am awaiting for them to come back with my final amount on so I know how much I can spend for my flight home. I think one person has been awarded $470 or something like that. If you do decide to let Disney book it, be aware that they take around $25 from your pay each week until it is paid back and when you first start here you don't get paid an awful lot. If you can book it yourself I would recommend that as you will get in at a decent time and have an extra $25 each week!!
