Hey there I was wondering if anyone could tell me when family come is it better to put them up in a Disney Hotel or is it better to put them up off property? I know there are lots of places that we will be getting discounts at but what have others done and what is the best thing to do? I want my family to be close would like to spend time with them but also want the best deal and the most convenient thing for them also. Thanks any help would be great.

hey chris just thought id say hello lol!!

personally id look around and see prices, i mean if your family have never been to disney before it may be nice to stay in one of the disney resorts, but if u want them really close 2 the commons as u know there is the marriott village just before u turn into little lake bryan, as well as the hotels around crossroads and the south end of Int Drive. When my parents visit in september they are staying in the sherator vistana, which is about 5mins from the commons!

im sure someone will be able to help u more though

Just like Sara already mentioned the Marriott Village is a very nice hotel and so close to the Commons. I stayed there with my dad a while ago, because I wanted to visit friends in the Commons. It has good deals and you could always have your parents visit. They also have transportation to the parks. Another cute one is the Holiday Inn which is near Vista Way. It has a few more shops around, the Marriott Village would be a short walk to everything.
    Hope that helps....

Speaking of Family visiting, does anyone know for sure the discounts and entry prices our family recieves from us working here?  I've heard that after 3 months, your family can take advantage of our Disney access, but what exactly does that all include?  Are friends included?  Any help on the matter would really help!  Thanks!

Hey! This has come up a lot of times before :p It's probably in the FAQ question, too. But since I'm too lazy to look it up here are the basic things you need to know:
After you have been working your 3 months for Disney you will receive a maingate pass. This pass entitles you to sign in family members/friends for free into the parks ( all 4 Disney parks ). You can sign in up to 3 people a time and the maingate pass is valid for doing that 12 times ( so you can basically sign people in once a month ). It's really a lot of free entries. When you will have friends visiting before your 3 months passed, ask a roomate or co-worker, they will be willing to help you out and sign people in for you.
Other than that you get a 20% discount on all merchandise at Disney. Around christmas you even get 40%. You get your discount on the restaurants at EpCot as well ( definitely try eating around the world during your year ). You also get lots of discounts at Downtown Disney and the Outlet mall which is located near the Commons.
You get discount for the Disney hotels, but you should call the hotline and ask them once you are there, as those will differ from time to time.
You will get an amazing discount on the Disney cruise! If you haven't done that before, do it now!!! It is sooo much fun, relaxing, great food and sooo cheap. I enjoyed it so much! If you have done it before, do it another time LOL
Last but not least you also get discounts on the water parks ( I think 50% ). At slow periods you sometimes get in for free.

I'm sure I forgot lots of things.....

Hey Julia , how many entries do you get for friends and family if you work in F&B signing contract directly with the restaurant and not with Disney?

Oh I don't really know as our restaurant was Disney-owned. I am sure you will also get some free entries, though. And even if you don't, like I mentioned before, you will have tons of friends and roomies who could sign in friends for you!
