Hi guys, I really need some help. Ive just been offered F&B for the 31st Jan 2012. Problem is, im a really picky eater and have been my whole life. I barely eat anything and have never had to handle/clean up food. I work for Apple Hence why I put Merch as my first choice so I feel really out of my depth right now. I need to suck it up and get over it if ive got any chance of surviving out there and I wouldnt give up working for Disney for anything, Its been my dream since I was a toddler. ;D I was wondering if any current/previous peeps could help me out. Ive got until Sunday to give them a definate answer and was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on exactly what you do in F&B and if the pro's out way the cons compared to Merch. I know its more money (if you get a tipped role) but money has never been my main concern. Thanks for all your help in advance guys. I feel really silly cos I should be over the moon but I really wasnt expecting that email. Thanks again. Dani. xxx
Aww thank you. Are you F&b or Merch when you go? Im so excited but just really want to know I can do it. you know what I mean? Im definatly up for meeting though! where are you from? x
food and bev at the UK pavillion has a few different roles. when you arrive you do two jobs... podium (greeter/seater) whereby all you do is welcome guests to the restaurant and show them to their tables, or you'll be in the chippy, where yo take the orders, and put everything ona tray for the guests to take away (it's a quickservice location). while still in non-tipped you can be trained on a few other things. beer cart (selling basically just drinks to people), stocker (running around making sure everywhere in f&b has stock on hand) and assignor (you are in charge of seating people in the restaurant, putting them on tables, working out the wait time, making sure the servers bus their tables). tipped positions are in food running, service or the bar. You'll only be in contact with food if food running, serving, or chippy. the bar does food but all they really do is take the order and the food runners bring it out. hope that helps! some people go the whole year without going into service and are quite happy to remain on the podium. it's a much less stressful job out there!
