Hey all, I think i read somewhere that experience in Food and Beverage or Merchandise is needed but i was wondering if Disney do still consider people without experience in these two areas? For me, finding a job in either F&B or Merch is really difficult as no one wants to hire at the moment. If anyone could shed some light on this subject for me, i would really appreciate it. Thank you guys ;D
Hello Aimee I dont have any experience in food and beverage but that is on of the positions i will be working. I do have experience in customer service so that may have influenced their decision but the jobs are entry level so sometimes not a whole lot of experience is required. I marked every box on the checklist to better my chances
Hey Yecats, Phewwww, that makes me feel a little better. By the time I apply I will have experience in being a receptionist as I'm completing an apprentice atm so fingers crossed that will help towards it! Thank you for your help! How long until your start date? Well done on getting in and good luck
OMG I did not know this, I literally dont have any experience in this area apart from being a very sociable person, will it affect their decision or is it just a bonus for those whom have it? xxx
I think its just a bonus gilberto because like they say, the jobs are entry level so they shouldnt really expect to much experience. Being sociable will probably be a benefit for you because they need people who can talk to other people. You can only try I am doing a traineeship in administration Aimee so thats looking good for you My start date is in January. What are you studying? Good luck to both of you!
I'm studying Business and Administration so basically the same as you Ooooh, January isn't long away, I bet you're sooooo excited!! I'm going to apply in January, I'm so excited but so nervous at the same time. What were the interviews like? Nerve racking? And you are welcome
Is it a certificate that your studying? I am very excited and so nervous! I'm nervous about not getting the visa. The interviews weren't to bad actually, and because I flew in from Adelaide that morning and flew back out the same night she tried to make sure my interview didn't go to long. But she just asked basic interview questions and really just wanted to know how I am with people and deal with different situations. They are very nice and friendly and they make you feel comfortable. I guess the main reason I felt a bit nervous was because I wanted it so much! It will be so amazing to be over there
You don't NEED experience in either of those fields to get through - not at all! If you don't then try to make sure that in your cover letter you emphasise the customer service aspects of the jobs you have had. Once you're past the first stage it's a lot more about your personality, but to get past the CV stage it's important to stand out against people who HAVE got experience in those fields. Good luck!
I'm not sure what a certificate course is so i'm guessing it isn't lol! Why would you not get the visa? I thought everyone who gets accepted can get a visa? I'm glad the interviews aren't too bad as they are what i'm most scared about. I think i will be the same, so nervous just because i want it that much!!! Scaryyyyyy haha!
Hi Missish, Yeah, i understand. Thank you for your help I will continue to look for a weekend job in either of those areas as i would really like some experience on my CV. ;D
Ohh lol well my traineeship is a certificate 3 but if you dot know what it is then obviously you not lol Where are you from Aimee? There has only been one person that got denied a visa and he was studying part time so I want to study next semester as well and full time to better my chances. If I don't get the visa I will actually cry! It's all scary and exciting and will be so amazing to actually be there
I'm from London, where are you from? Oh yeah, I don't understand the whole visa bit so maybe I should look into that lol! Do you need specific experiences and stuff for it or something? I know - it would just be amazing to be out there and for it all to be happening! I can't wait until I can apply and get the ball rolling
Ohh London that would be why you dont know what i am talking about, im from Australia You need to be a student studying full time and Im not sure what they like the minimum qualification to be so I just hope im doing enough. Its so exciting and scary applying and when you get excepted its even more exciting and scary! Ive never been away from home for more then a month but it will be so worth it!! ;D
Oh, that would be why haha. How comes we have to be in full time education? Even for the CRP? Yeah, i agree. The experience will all make it worth it, I've never been away from home for longer than one night lol!
You have to be full time as part of the visa requirement for the J-1 visa so I guess it depends what visa you have to get, I think the US embassy just likes to know you have a reason to return to your home country. Haha wow well one year will be a bit different from one night but its a once in a life time opportunity so we have to remember that when we are feeling home sick
Oh no, that's quite worrying as I won't be in education because my apprenticeship is only a year :/ Are you in education at the moment or is that why you're worried about not getting it? I know right - I'm sure I'll manage though and like you say, it'll be so worth it! My family will come and visit though as they LOVE Florida haha!
I'm currently studying but it's only been part time but I am applying for the second semester to study full time and hopefully that will be enough! Fingers crossed for us!
Ooo, I'm scared about that now lol! Yeah, fingers crossed for us! Let me know if you get your visa Good luck
