    Hey Guys,

Thought now it is about time to start saving some money ready for the off chnace that i do get accepted, also thought there might be many others with the same question.......

So, you get offered your place...what do you need to budget for? I'm thinking along the lines of the following:

    . Insurance for the year
    . Admin charges
. Money to arrive in the country (There must be a minimum limit on the amount the gov. would allow you to arrive in the country with?....i.e. if you turn up with only 100 dollars they are likely to think your up to no good)
. Any other fees out there when you first arrive

    etc...etc.....

Can anyone shed light on any of the above? Would be a big help,
    Ta,

    J.

    Hi James and Jenine!

Disney recommend u take around $600-$1000 with u (not including flights.) But noone checks when u enter country nor at visa interview. (Though when i studied in states i had to prove by showing loan statement i had $1500 for the year.) The flights are around $670 from mancs and u can pay them of straight away or of your pay at around $20 a week.

This is the pre departure expenses i can remember at min!

Criminal background check - think it was around 40 pounds
Health insurance for 4 mths - depended on if u got plan A/B started from around $200 (for basic plan)
embassy fee 60 pounds plus 10 pound postage plus 10 pounds for photo that met their spec!

    On arrival:

    Activity fee $70
First week's rent (plus will prob need 2nd weeks too) $70 - 90 approx

Theres more i think, someone else will add to this im sure! Theres also all the optional stuff u might wanna buy - like any excuse to summer shop!

    Hi
Can't remember them all- or the amounts- don't have my booklet with me :'(
Before you go you need to pay for
CRB check (criminal records) about £40
    insurance
    visa

Then you need to pay flight
"relocation payment" or something- is about $70 i think (admin)
then you have to pay 2 weeks rent i think ~$160
linens ~$50 if you don't buy your own

Umm can't think of anymore- that's probably a bit vague- but hope it gives you some idea!

Well i have in my wallet at the moment just over 3.60...so i suppose at todays exhange rate it is 6 dollars 50 cents........about enough for a large meal at Burger King......if i chop the burger up into very tiny pieces it might just last the whole 12 months!!

aaww..jess thats terrible.....make sure you really badger them for some money.

Just imagine the feeling when the pay finally arrives on the 17th!

I can remember the first time i recieved any money from a job, i was 15 and worked for Pizza Hut, and my pay for the first 2 weeks was 50 pounds, the glorious feeling as it appeared in my account. Then the not so glorious feeling as i spent it over the next 20 minutes!

The $1500 I'm hoping to have is for the flight and stuff as well as insurance. I have given up drinking over the summer in order to save up!

I know what you mean about the overdraft, mine is at its limit! Its interest free till 2007, so I'm just leavin it till I get back from disney! lol!

You know, giving up/cutting down on drinking is actually a pretty good money saver! Not only do you save the cash you would have spent on booze, but once your tolerance drops (and it will!) and you start drinking again you won't have to spend as much on alcohol to get a wee bit tipsy!

Sounds good in theory! BUt it has been tried, and I fail every time! I have now cut down to spending only £30 a week on going out, which I think is pretty good!
