hey hey ok so ive got just over a month and abit before i leave to live the dream, and a packing panic has commenced !! have already managed ( attempted !!) to slim clothes down to a minimum which as im sure you gals will understand was not the easiest thing. so what other things can you guys and gals reccommended that i bring ?? suggestions clothing wise and any other thing wise are welcomed, and from the other posts a mattress cover is firmly on my list. thank you and happy christmas to you all. rose
a few jumpers or hoodies... i didnt really take anythin like that and it got a bit cold at evenings sometimes! also take black tops if u intend going to UK lasses, i only had like 2 black tops and i hated wearing the same black tops every monday. im a weirdo tho and i get dead para about people seeing me in the same outfit lots lol
from what i can gather UK lasses is on a Monday night (i think) and basically the girls from the UK all get together, get drunk and go out! think thats right anyway - and if not then im looking forward to finding out!!!!! ;D black tops seem to be the UK lasses unoffical uniform i think - i guess so that everyone knows who we are!!!!!!! Im going to try and pack as light as i can but i know im going to end up taking more than i need! im not going to bother taking big things like hair dryer/bath towels etc - i will get them at the walmart on the 2nd day(hopefully the other girls im sharing with will let me borrow their hairdryers on the first night - otherwise il be walking around with a birds nest on my head all day!!!!) im so exited about going now!!!! cant wait!!!!!!! xx
Hair dryers are pretty cheap over there, the same with the wet to dry hair straighteners, i only know this from friends, not personal experience, lol, basically if you can buy it relatively cheap out there do it, but remember you might be having to bring it back! My friend went out on the College Program in June and has had to have us bring back one suitcase of stuff already, probably more sooner or later when you consider a lot of people travel when they're done, if they have the cash, lol, and you don't want to be luggin around a huge suitcase!
when i went on holiday to florida before, there was no need for a hairdryer - it was so hot outside that if you walked around outdoors for 10 minutes it was dry! to be fair that was in august though.
Yeah thats very true, especially if your a bloke with short hair, haha, although that does damage your hair remember! All the suns rays and all, stay safe kids, use sunblock
alarm clock is something i have to buy to take with me. im one of those people who doesnt get up well lol
yup thats right, all the girls who work at the UK Pavillion!! i used to go even tho i worked in Magic Kingdom, because i had a lot of friends who went and they took me along with them! i loved it! and no idea why we had to wear black, but girls wear black, boys wear white! and after a while u can buy a Uk lasses top with a well earned nickname on the back! GemmaLou who posts on here is the new head of Uk Lasses
Haha, trust us brits to come up with a brilliant idea like that! Back on topic, i'd highly recommend sunscreen if your a bit pale, and definitely try and get a few bits of dried food or something in case you don't get time to do WalMart
im pale skinned and i didnt use sunscreen once! oops! it was cooler from sep - nov tho and i didnt really spend THAT much time in the sun! its deffo sumthing that u can get over there tho, and cheaper as well i took my straighteners with me, but they didnt heat up, nor did my curling tongs, so id advise u to leave them at home and buy over there. everything is so much cheaper anyway! i spent $230 in walmart on my first day, which is about £130, for that i got a mobile phone, hairdrier, really good straighteners, duvet, pillows, sheets, towels, and loads of food and alcohol!! total bargain!
The Canadians, French, and Mexicans also all do this (dunno who started it or if more countries do). I bought sun screen there, used it all of twice and I arrived in June. I also burn really easily and never had a problem in Florida.
There is SO much that you NEED and tons of stuff you DO NOT!! Silly little things like toilet paper.....BIG DEAL when your living in a new apartment with ALL NEW PEOPLE!! TRUST ME!! I was SO lucky to move into a flat that people were already in!! They welcomed me with OPEN ARMS..........but cleaning supplies and bedding....towels......things you would NEVER have thought about now become VERY important to you.......well to some I guess!! ;D
Yeah its just like moving out from your home, i guess you can forget silly little things that you take for granted, hope everyone gets to WalMart!
Like Febreeze... I never realised how much I loved Febreeze until I was without it for a few weeks! So did people really not find Florida sun too bad? I turn into a lobster after about five minutes in the sun and as worried that if I was put on outdoor merch or something then I'd permanently look like a tomato! I mean, I know I'm going in the worst months to possibly go for stuff like that, but if other people didn't find they burnt that badly then that's always good news!
I am a VERY fair skinned gal and I have been working outside on the Canadian POPCORN cart and I have YET to get a sunburn.......although I will tell ya it gets MIGHTY HOT.....however it is still only December!! I would HATE to be outside during JULY but I plan on being inside in Le Cellier by then!! Bring TONS of sunscreen!! ;D ;D
if i was going to a water park or gonna be spending a long time in the sun i would cover myself in lotion but i never went to a water park ever... and wen i was at work i was never in the sun much, and, wen visiting the parks, i didnt spend a lot of time in direct sunlight as u are just going to and from rides and stuff which are mainly indoors i think il prob use lotion in june/july tho norwegians also do the drinking parties on a monday!
is a laptop an essential ? seriously considering it. what insurance are people going with for the first few months ?? thank you
