When you got your visa (in Belfast, but I'm assuming it would be the same in London) did they have your passport back to you by the end of the day or send it with the secure mail guys? Just wondering because my parents just did theirs in London and the mail seems to have messed up entirely and they haven't arrived yet. And I'm also wondering what happens if they do mess up with us and we can only get ours 8 weeks before we go. If they lose our passports surely we'd never get new ones in time to go! I'm a worrier, I always think worst case scenario when this stuff happens! I think it's the same mail service who messed up my sister's Bon Jovi ticket delivery (dumped at a place she couldn't get to, she told they were elsewhere, and they hadn't checked to see any id like they're supposed to when delivered) and in the end she couldn't go to the concert. Which doesn't ease my worry for when I do it all!
i'm surprised you could get everything organised quickly enough! Flight reschedule and a new trip to the embassy etc? It must have cost a fortune. I hope they compensated you for it all.
I booked my flight through Disney...so I didn't had to do anything. My problem was that Disney didn't send me my form (forgot the name of it) in time, which I had to take to the embassy. They suggested to go to the embassy anyway which I did and then I had to go back again a week later :-\ The embassy is just a 2 hours drive from me, so that wasn't such a big problem.
awww i really hope everything goes ok with our visas and stuff - i just booked my app today and my flights for going over to Belfast, the whole thing is costing me a fortune,so if anything does go wrong.....i really wouldnt have the money to go back and do it again,no way. Fingers crossed!!!!!
my parents passports arrived back this afternoon. And they'd spent a fortune to get them delivered before 8am! The deilvery guy didn't even ask to see ID and it's made out to my dad etc and that's one of their basic rules! he embassy should really get a new delivery contract. I'm always a worrier when it comes to stuff like this. I'll be worried right up until I've landed in Orlando! If everything runs smoothly I'll be surprised.
Hey Kerry, so when you coming over to Belfast? Are you flying home the same day? Anyhoo I'm sure you've got all your directions and everything organised but if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them, hell who knows if your spending a wee bit of time before or after your embassy visit about Belfast I might bump into you?
I was at the Embassy yesterday and today I got my text from Secure Mail service to say my passport will arrive back 2moro!! Ive never heard of anyones passports not coming back so dont stress Linsey!
Hey,im coming over on the 20th march! Booked my flights today, only coming over for the day im afraid but might have a bit of time to kill after i get out of the embassy, flight home doesnt leave untill 6pm!!! Any idea how far away Belfast Intl Airport is from the embassy (and costs for a taxi!!) might just get a bus from the airport into town and then find my way if its going to cost lots!!!!
well,im flying with easy jet,and it cost me £42...... thats the cheapest i could find,i did try flybe but that was going to cost £70......!!! Im flying from Glasgow to Belfast Intl, get in at 9am and leave again at 6pm,my visa app is at 11am so plenty time to get a taxi to and from the airport (i hope!!!!)
that's not too bad a price. I figured I'd go from either glasgow or edinburgh depending on which is cheaper or which is actually possible! not sure how many airports fly there! In the end I'll bet the flight is cheap in comparison to getting to the airport etc. unless I can persuade my dad to give me a lift there and back
yeah its not to bad but its the cost of getting to Glasgow from home, and then taxis to and from the airports thats going to push it up...... and the fact that il have to take 3 days of work!!! oh dear. Its worth it tho,so i dont mind to much!!!! ;D
Hey Kerry, I hope this link will be of some use to you, it seems to have everything anyone would need to know: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/nireland/nilocation.html Buses are most likely your cheapest option you can get the Air Bus from International Airport to the Europa Hotel in Belfast City Centre and either get a bus or taxi to the Consulate, if you get off at the Europa Hotel you could always ask at the reception for them to call you a taxi or pick up a taxi card in there. That link seems to answer all questions anyhoo.
Kerry, if get off at Europa hotel, the Embassy is literally a 5 minute walk! 20th March EEP! We must meet!
Really I must have mis-read something cause I got the impression that it was over near Stanmillis College, lol I work over at the Odyssey at the mo and am still really bad with directions in Central Belfast, lol a friend from just out past Carrick had to give me directions to get to her B-day do in The Pott House. I live like a 5 min drive from there and walking distance to work is like 20min and a 5 min drive too, lol this is why I never get lost in Disney cause the easy to follow, illustrated, user friendly maps.
Where are you working in the Odyssey? Hmmm I just clicked the link you gave and it does say the embassy is on Stranmillis Road...that's so weird! Then whats that building beside EdCo that flies the American flag outside it! Its an official looking building! I was under the impression THAT was the embassy!
Ooh Kerry did you check with easyJet for your flight home seeing as the Embassy holds on to your passport?
yeah i did - they said that i will be fine to use my provisional as photo ID so it should be ok,im going to use that as ID for flying out with so if theres any problems il know about it before i leave glasgow, shouldnt be any hassle tho,if there is i wont be a happy bunny!!! So im guessing that the info on the web site is correct with regard to the location of the embassy?? Is it still an easy walk from the hotel or should i just get a taxi straight from the airport?? xx
