I was wandering.. I have family over there just outside Orlando, is it possible to fly out early then show up at the commons on your date? I was thinking with family there I wouldnt need early accomodation but I could get used to the time and buy bedding etc.

    Regards,
    Jamie

Dont see why not, if you fly out there on your date you dont get any assistance (from what I am aware of) to get to the Commons, it is up to you.

In that sense then I dont see why there would be a problem getting a lift to the Commons from your family's place rather than the airport....

Thats what i wanna do Jamie, go out earlier than my date. I also wanna know if you can just arrive at the commons instead of the airport to meet the disney peeps, on your arrival date.

Yeh you can. Just let them know before you leave that you are coming earlier and that you will be coming straight to the commons.

Indeed your visa restricts your arrival date: no more than 14 days before your program starts. Though in mostly cases you get your visa 10 days ahead of your starting date.. :)
I am starting on October23rd and supposed to receive my visa tomorrow.. I still could go a week in advance. I thought of doing it actually. But I prefer going on the 23rd, that way I'll travel with other french people on the program and don't arrive in the commons alone and by myself.. The travel is part of the disney experience and would be much more fun if I can share it with future mates! hehe ;)

Yeah i was thinking of doing that, i have family out there and they live 40 mins from Orlando. Can't now though because already booked my flight. Think i actually prefer going on the date though because you get the whole experience like as Elodie said travel with others etc, dunno but id feel more at ease doing it the disney way so i know im not missing out on anything and guaranteed to be treated the same as everyone else if you arrive in a group. Defnitely a good idea though about the bedding and stuff x

You should arrive on ur start date yes. But don't you have an agency to arrange the travel for you? like yummy in UK or International Services in France.. It's much more easy as they book everything for us ! ;D

You can let Yummy know that u will be going straight to the commons and then they will let disney know.

Disney now have an international program desk at the airport and that is where you meet when you land... they give you your program pack there with you apartment key in and then they have buses that take you to you accom.

I started my program on 11th of September but I flew out to Orlando on the 9th and had 2 nights in the All Star Movie resort. Was good to have a few days to chill out before moving into commons. Was a really good few days.
Will be good to meet you all
